time,Ihad read most of it.I was not influenced by theChurch.Answers didn't come but I gained hope--things can change. \nLooking back,I can see I was influenced bythe very words attributed to Jesus.\"Ask and youwill receive\";\"Knock and the door will beopened\".I must have skipped by The ApostlePaul's letters telling the key message of salvationthrough the Cross,I recall having no thoughtsabout it except simply it happened;Jesus wascrucified.Whatever I read in Apostle Paul'sthirteen biblical epistles of how we're saved by theblood Jesus shed, about his resurrection on thethird day, about his imminent return called theSecond Coming, about how those who believe inhim will receive eternal life,it didn’t register;itdidn't matter.About the last thing I would havewished for at that time was eternal life.I waslooking for this life to get better or otherwise toend. \nUltimately I concluded that the words of Jesuswere true, but the Bible had not answered myquestions and I remained in emotional misery,a \nThe Verbal Truth of Christianity \nvictim of extreme introversion from about start ofhigh school.I didn't know at the time I was justbeginning to climb out of the prison of a world inwhich I could function but find no meaning orenjoyment in. \nThe year was 1973,just months into mybiblical quest, and I heard on the news that acomet Kohoutek had been spotted entering theinner solar system and dubbed“comet of thecentury\"while still eight months out from the Sun,and it was expected to reach closest to the Sun onDecember 28th becoming a brilliant Christmascomet as it approached.I suppose the anticipationof a\"sign in the sky\"was of nature similar to thetypical Christian belief in the Second Coming ofChrist.I hadn't responded to the biblical idea,as Isaid, but I did have hope that some great thingwould happen and bring about a change thatwould give me relief. But the comet fizzled out, tosurprise of astronomers. It grew dimmer;it wassupposed to grow brighter. \nThough its significance faded to darkness, thenarrative would again arise in my life 40 yearslater when, triumphant over my long struggle toovercome shyness,a second comet was arriving,Comet ISON spotted at an early time as was theearlier comet Kohoutek, and again, expected byastronomers to be the brilliant Christmas cometthat Kohoutek had failed to attain. Now,however,I was in command of myself, with a 40-yearstruggle behind me.During those years I had","cbCaiqQAFWvST32C","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqQAFWvST32C","pdf",3195147,72,"English","# Introduction\n## The author’s Bible reading
