It analyzes modern political attitudes such as leftism, psychological mechanisms like feelings of inferiority and oversocialization, and the “power process” that governs behavior. The work argues industrial-technological society cannot be reformed, outlines restriction of freedom as unavoidable, and discusses technology, strategy, and the human future.","The Unabombersent this essay, entitled \"Industrial Society and Its Future,\"to a number ofmedia outlets, demanding that it be published.National law enforcementofficials encouraged its publication in the hope that someone wouldrecognize FC's writing style or social theories and provide them with aclue to his identity. \nThat someone turned out to be FC's own brother. On April 3,1996,the FBI captured Theodore J.Kaczynski,an eccentric hermit whomany years ago abandoned a successful career as a mathematician andretreated to the Montana wilderness.Kaczynski's brother David, uponreading the Manifesto, recognized in it ideas expounded by his oldersibling Ted.Acting on a tip from David, the FBI descended on Ted'sbackwoods Montana cabin and took him into custody.Based on what theyclaim is
