The story explains their building methods, using bricks hardened with fire and tar as mortar. The account then shifts to divine observation and response as God looks down on what they have constructed, setting up the origin of the tower of Babel.","003a The Tower of Babel \nGenesis 11:1-9 \nEnglish Spiritual \n003a The Tower of Babel \nEnglish \n© 2020 Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Many years passed and the number of people on earth increased again. \nAs the people moved eastward, they settled in the plain of Shinar, which was later called Babylonia. And the whole earth had one common language. \nThey spoke to one another and said,“Let us make bricks and harden them with fire so that we can build a city and a tower.” \nSo they used bricks instead of stones, and they used tar for mortar to hold the bricks firmly together when building. \nThen they said,“Let us build a city for ourselves with a tower so tall that it will reach very high up into the heavens. In that way we will make a name for ourselves. If we do this, we will not be scattered across the whole earth.” \nSo they began to build the city and the tower. Then the Lord looked down and saw the city and the tower which they had built, and said,","cbCaianY0cOUivgh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaianY0cOUivgh","pdf",2403055,3,1,16,"English","en",105,"# Genesis 11:1-9\n## People settle in Shinar\n## Bricks, tar mortar, and tower plan\n## Divine response","[{\"question\":\"Where do the people settle after the flood?\",\"answer\":\"They move eastward and settle in the plain of Shinar, later called Babylonia.\"},{\"question\":\"Why do the people decide to build a city and a tower?\",\"answer\":\"They want a tower tall enough to reach the heavens, make a name for themselves, and avoid being scattered across the earth.\"},{\"question\":\"What materials and methods do the people use for building?\",\"answer\":\"They make bricks hardened with fire and use tar for mortar to firmly hold the bricks together.\"}]",1784116593,40,{"code":4,"msg":31,"data":32},"ok",{"site_id":25,"language":24,"slug":33,"title":13,"keywords":34,"description":14,"schema_data":35,"social_meta":86,"head_meta":88,"extra_data":90,"updated_unix":28},"the-tower-of-babel","",{"@graph":36,"@context":85},[37,53,68],{"@type":38,"itemListElement":39},"BreadcrumbList",[40,44,48,50],{"item":41,"name":42,"@type":43,"position":21},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":45,"name":46,"@type":43,"position":47},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":49,"name":12,"@type":43,"position":20},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/religion-spirituality/",{"item":51,"name":13,"@type":43,"position":52},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-tower-of-babel/78831/",4,{"url":51,"name":13,"@type":54,"author":55,"headline":13,"publisher":57,"fileFormat":60,"inLanguage":24,"description":14,"dateModified":61,"datePublished":62,"encodingFormat":60,"isAccessibleForFree":63,"interactionStatistic":64},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":56},"Person",{"url":41,"name":58,"@type":59},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-29","2026-07-15",true,{"@type":65,"interactionType":66,"userInteractionCount":20},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":67},"ViewAction",{"@type":69,"mainEntity":70},"FAQPage",[71,77,81],{"name":72,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":74},"Where do the people settle after the flood?","Question",{"text":75,"@type":76},"They move eastward and settle in the plain of Shinar, later called Babylonia.","Answer",{"name":78,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":79},"Why do the people decide to build a city and a tower?",{"text":80,"@type":76},"They want a tower tall enough to reach the heavens, make a name for themselves, and avoid being scattered across the earth.",{"name":82,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":83},"What materials and methods do the people use for building?",{"text":84,"@type":76},"They make bricks hardened with fire and use tar for mortar to firmly hold the bricks together.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":51,"og:type":87,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":58,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":89,"canonical":51},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":25},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":92},[93,97,101,105,110,115,119,124,127,130,134],{"id":21,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":94,"show_sort_weight":95,"slug":96},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":47,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":98,"show_sort_weight":99,"slug":100},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":52,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":102,"show_sort_weight":103,"slug":104},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":106,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":107,"show_sort_weight":108,"slug":109},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":111,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":112,"show_sort_weight":113,"slug":114},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":116,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":117,"show_sort_weight":29,"slug":118},7,"Healthcare","healthcare",{"id":120,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":121,"show_sort_weight":122,"slug":123},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":125,"slug":126},20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":125,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":128,"show_sort_weight":125,"slug":129},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":131,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":132,"show_sort_weight":131,"slug":133},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":135,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":136,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":137},19,"General","general"]
