existence for many years,and ever since main-taining a steady growth.Its purpose is to provide training under histeaching methods and to perpetuate his musical ideals.By a TrustDeed,executed in 1927,the School received a Constitution,and frombeing a proprietory institution became a permanent body.  \nThe School is open to teachers and artists,to professional students,amateurs,and also to children,for instruction under the Direct TeachingMethods formulated in the Founder's various books on Pianoforte,Technique and Interpretation*—works which have revolutionisedpianoforte teaching all over the world.The results of this particulartraining are too well known to require reference here,and it would beinvidious to quote names from the very large number of successful andfamous artists,teachers and lecturers(many at the head of the pro-fession)who have risen from it.Nevertheless,attention may be drawnto the brilliant reputation of the many Professors who have receivedtheir Pianoforte training on these lines,on the staff of this School andits Branches,etc.;those on the staff of the Royal Academy of Music(some twelve in number)and on the staff of the Royal College ofMusic;and to the many artists who have not only become celebratedand famous in Britain,but also in America,on the Continent,and inthe Colonies.  \nThe School is under Mr.Matthay's immediate
