The text presents the angel Gabriel’s message to Mary, Mary’s questions and consent, and the role of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ coming. It also highlights Joseph’s response as a righteous man and the unfolding events tied to prophecy and divine guidance.","The Story of the Birth of Jesus \nMatthew 1:18-24; 2:1-12 \nLuke 1:26-38; 2:1-20 \nEnglish Spiritual \nCopyright © 2004, Kartidaya \nYou may not use this work for commercial purposes. The virgin’s name was Mary. \nLuke 1:26-27 \nThe angel went to her and said,“Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with \n” \nyou. \nMary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. \nLuke 1:28-29 \nBut the angel said to her,“Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end!” \nLuke 1:30-33 \n“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel,“since I am a virgin?” \nLuke 1:34 \nThe angel answered,“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.” \nLuke 1:35-37 \n“I am the Lord's servant,” Mary answered.“May it be to me as you have said.” \nThen the angel left her. \nLuke 1:38 \nThis is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. \nMatthew 1:18-19","cbCailbMc1NLsg0M","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailbMc1NLsg0M","pdf",2194776,2,1,29,"English","en",105,"# The Story of the Birth of Jesus\n## Matthew 1:18-24 and Joseph’s decision\n## Luke 1:26-38 and the angel’s message to Mary\n## Matthew 2:1-12 and the unfolding events\n## Luke 2:1-20 and the birth narrative","[{\"question\":\"Which Bible passages are used to tell the story of Jesus’ birth?\",\"answer\":\"The narrative draws from Matthew 1:18-24 and 2:1-12, and from Luke 1:26-38 and 2:1-20.\"},{\"question\":\"What message does the angel Gabriel give to Mary?\",\"answer\":\"Gabriel tells Mary not to be afraid, that she has found favor with God, and that she will conceive and give birth to a son named Jesus.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the text explain how Mary becomes pregnant?\",\"answer\":\"It states that the Holy Spirit will come upon Mary and that the child will be called the Son of God.\"}]",1784316592,73,{"code":4,"msg":31,"data":32},"ok",{"site_id":25,"language":24,"slug":33,"title":13,"keywords":34,"description":14,"schema_data":35,"social_meta":86,"head_meta":88,"extra_data":90,"updated_unix":28},"the-story-of-the-birth-of-jesus-bible-reading","",{"@graph":36,"@context":85},[37,53,68],{"@type":38,"itemListElement":39},"BreadcrumbList",[40,44,47,50],{"item":41,"name":42,"@type":43,"position":21},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":45,"name":46,"@type":43,"position":20},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",{"item":48,"name":12,"@type":43,"position":49},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/religion-spirituality/",3,{"item":51,"name":13,"@type":43,"position":52},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-story-of-the-birth-of-jesus-bible-reading/92440/",4,{"url":51,"name":13,"@type":54,"author":55,"headline":13,"publisher":57,"fileFormat":60,"inLanguage":24,"description":14,"dateModified":61,"datePublished":62,"encodingFormat":60,"isAccessibleForFree":63,"interactionStatistic":64},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":56},"Person",{"url":41,"name":58,"@type":59},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-25","2026-07-17",true,{"@type":65,"interactionType":66,"userInteractionCount":20},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":67},"ViewAction",{"@type":69,"mainEntity":70},"FAQPage",[71,77,81],{"name":72,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":74},"Which Bible passages are used to tell the story of Jesus’ birth?","Question",{"text":75,"@type":76},"The narrative draws from Matthew 1:18-24 and 2:1-12, and from Luke 1:26-38 and 2:1-20.","Answer",{"name":78,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":79},"What message does the angel Gabriel give to Mary?",{"text":80,"@type":76},"Gabriel tells Mary not to be afraid, that she has found favor with God, and that she will conceive and give birth to a son named Jesus.",{"name":82,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":83},"How does the text explain how Mary becomes pregnant?",{"text":84,"@type":76},"It states that the Holy Spirit will come upon Mary and that the child will be called the Son of God.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":51,"og:type":87,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":58,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":89,"canonical":51},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":25},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":92},[93,97,101,105,110,115,120,125,128,131,135],{"id":21,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":94,"show_sort_weight":95,"slug":96},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":20,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":98,"show_sort_weight":99,"slug":100},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":52,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":102,"show_sort_weight":103,"slug":104},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":106,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":107,"show_sort_weight":108,"slug":109},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":111,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":112,"show_sort_weight":113,"slug":114},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":116,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":117,"show_sort_weight":118,"slug":119},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":121,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":122,"show_sort_weight":123,"slug":124},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":130},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":133,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":134},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":136,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":137,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":138},19,"General","general"]
