I enjoyedtalking with my mother and father about all these people and wherethey fitted into the family.I made notes of their reminiscences. This was probably what gave me the idea of writing about my branchof the Smith family. \nWriting this little history has been a most enjoyable experiencefor me.It has been interesting, not only from an historical stand-point,but it_has brought me into touch with many of my relatives, some of whom I have seen in the not too distant past, and some withwhom I have had the pleasure of making a new contact. I have dis-covered new cousins that I hardly knew I had until I started digginginto all the records or jottings given to me by my mother and fathermany years ago.It has been a real pleasure. \nI have tried to be as accurate as possible in giving names, dates and sequences, but there are probably some mistakes, for whichI ask forgiveness. In some cases,I found contradictory recordsgiving different dates of birth or death for a person. In such casesI have put one of the dates in parentheses. In other cases,I havebeen unable to get the information I needed,so there are some \nregrettably blank spaces.I have also limited the genealogy to my ownline, and have rarely carried the tables beyond the children of myfirst cousins. \nI want to thank particularly all those of you who have been sovery helpful in answering any letters and giving me the informationI needed about your families. It has been a valuable assistance.Iowe a great deal of thanks to my husband for his help in organizingthis little chronicle. He was personally much interested in it,since we were able to trace close connections between his family andmine on Cape Cod in the early days.I have also drawn heavily on theexcellent information contained in the annual reports and bookletsreceived over the years from the Association of the Descendants ofRalph Smith,of which my mother was a charter member.I have alsoused as sources Edwin Crowell's Barrington Township, and Evelyn M.Richardson's Barrington's 01d Meeting House, and Converse E.Nicker-son's A History of Cape Sable Island. \nWe have an ancestry to be very proud of,and I hope all ofyou who see this little booklet will enjoy its story.I have thecurrent addresses of many of the present generation of cousins, and will be glad to send one that you may wish;or at least I maybe able to put you in touch with someone who could supply it.Itwill also be a pleasure to hear from any of you who may wish furtherinformation about specific things, such as the location of theStephen Smith burial ground in Chatham,Massachusetts,or theRalph Smith monument in the Eastham cemetery. \nRuth Hayden Freeman24 South StreetMiddlebury,Vermont 05753 \nJuly,1975 \nSmufha \nNova Scotia was probably first visited by the white man in 986 A.D.Bjarni,son of Herjulf, coasted al","cbCaila1Plf0SB10","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaila1Plf0SB10","pdf",1832351,44,"English","# The Story of My Branch\n## Descendants of Ralph Smith\n## A Genealogy with a Brief History of Barrington and Cape Sable Island\n## Memoir and research approach\n## Nova Scotia early history and peoples","[{\"question\":\"What family lineage does the genealogy focus on?\",\"answer\":\"It focuses on the descendants of Ralph Smith of Hingham and Eastham, Massachusetts, within the author’s own line.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the author handle conflicting or missing birth and death information?\",\"answer\":\"The author aims for accuracy but notes that contradictory records may exist; one of the dates is placed in parentheses, and blank spaces are left when information cannot be found.\"},{\"question\":\"What historical context about Nova Scotia is included?\",\"answer\":\"The text describes early Norse contact, identifies the Micmac Indians as original inhabitants, and gives background on early European settlement activities associated with Acadia.\"}]","The Story of My Branch - A Genealogy - Descendants of Ralph Smith - with a Brief History of Barrington and Cape Sable Island - by Ruth Hayden Freeman | PDF",1790621507,68]
