Centre. Those unable to attend are thuable to read some of the lectures which they may have wished to hear. Those, towho do attend are often anxious to retain the lectures in a permanent form.ThReview has these two types of reader specially in view. But there is also a fwider public who do not attend conferences but who will benefit from the:lectures and talks. \nTHE SUBSCRIPTION,£2 per unstructuredocieties, communities, ways of life and so \nn.Of course it goes hand in hand with aenerally critical view of institutions, and anppeal to democracy as a neat solution tocial evils.Asireview of structures andistitutions was badly needed a decade or sogo. The abuses of authority under theeadings of authoritarianism or paternalismad been allowed to sustain society for far00 long.To criticise one way of life, owever,ro always sends the pendulumwinging to the2 opposite extreme.Mencquire clear cut ideas, clear cut plans for theuture, clear cut analyses of current ills andIso of current relying on the left. \nWhat we fail to realise is that extremesill never succeed in bringing us to the goalexcept to the final goal when we swingrom the utter darkness of death to therilliance of the light of the divine life.Forhe duration we are destined to sustain aaried but continuous tension between thennumerable extremes, left and right, blacknd white, darkness and light. As we dislikeension so vehemently we are constantlyscaping into a simple and clear extremenstead of attempting to come to terms withhe tension, harness it,so that it mayecome a dynamic power in our lives.Werefer for the most part to be only half aliven one side or the other. \nAnd so it is in the matter of structure orin-structure.To escape from the overtructured society most of us were bornnto, imprisoned in the institution,we prefero be like jellyfish. The jellyfish has no bonetructure that gives it the power to twist itsody, direct its movements to proceed toarmer or cooler waters. The jelly fish driftsvith the tide;its environment takes it alongnd it is content to be thus enveloped. And \nEDITORIAL \nso a non-institutional group has little chanceof influencing its surrounding society.Onthe contrary it tends to take its directionfrom the movement of the wider society inwhich it exists. No group of men and womencan survive for long without a backbone ofsome sort. The jellyfish has its own ratherflabby structure of cells, but this kind ofbinding force is insufficient where humanminds and wills are concerned. And so theunstructured religion or act of worship orgroup activity is confronted by three mainproblems. It is quite likely to disintigratealtogether, leaving the individuals isolated intheir ","cbCainqDUOdG45Sc","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainqDUOdG45Sc","pdf",2956913,"English","# Editorial\n##
