These relics were given to the Bürach’s first emperor, Indorius I, and inherited by each of his successors. \nMaligant gave the mighty sword, Dämglesvir, used to slay the Bürach’s enemies. Galt placed a crown on Indorius’ head to signify his divine right. Ulmyr gifted the emperor an orb of foresight to make him a wise ruler. Aurelia clad Indorius in a breastplate, only wishing to protect him and his heirs. \nMany centuries later, after Emperor Leopold I was assassinated, custody of the artifacts sparked a civil war. Each of the holy treasures disappeared amidst the fighting. One religiously fervent tale claims they blazed with radiant light before banishing themselves beyond mortal reach. Other rumors suggest they were each stolen or lost in various seperate conspiracies. In any case, it is certain that whoever holds the sacred artifacts controls the fate of the Bürach Empire. \nWielding An ArtifAct \nBefore disappearing, the artifacts had become tarnished by Emperor Leopold’s delusions, cruelty, and malice. Darkness had seeped into them, corrupting their divine power and purpose. Though it is heretical to suggest, some believe the artifacts befoulment is somehow linked to the growing influence of the Great Beast. \nWielding a sacred artifact is difficult. Their true power can only be unlocked by practicing their use. Yet this necessitates more time exposed to the darkness that now infuses them, which can infest the wielder’s body and mind. \nAttunement And Proficiency \nEach artifact has three levels of proficiency with their use. When a character first attunes to an artifact, they can only use the item properties listed under the aspirant proficiency level. Once they have more experience wielding the artifact, they may unlock the properties listed under the adept and then master proficiency levels. Each proficiency level also comes with a curse, all of which affect a character for each proficiency level they’ve unlocked. A creature can’t voluntarily end their attunement to a sacred artifact. \nAn artifact’s power is intrinsically linked with its curses. If a character’s attunement to an artifact is broken, usually because the artifact’s curses are suppressed, the character only has the aspirant proficiency level unlocked if they attune to the artifact again. \nincreAsing Proficiency \nTo unlock the next level of proficiency with a sacred artifact, a character must achieve a milestone. There is no specific time required between achieving milestones, though it is recommended that a character can’t become an adept until reaching 5th level, or a master until reaching 9th level. \nExample milestones are listed below, which are thematically unique to each artifact. Talk to your GM to come up with further milestones for your campaign and how you can achieve them. \n• You wield Dämglesvir to slay a mighty foe. \n• You take no damage during a difficult fight. \n• An important ruler swears fealty to you. \n• You alter a future witnessed in Ulmyr’s Eye. \nshAred delusions \nThe darkness that has seeped into the sacred artifacts causes those who wield them to experience the same paranoia and delusions that plagued Emperor Leopold. \nA creature attuned to a sacred artifact suffers delusions. A delusion could include the sense a creature is being watched when they’re not, mistaking an innocent animal for a monster, or believing a friendly NPC is hostile. There is no limit to how many delusions a creature can simultaneously experience, and delusions are shared by all creatures attuned to an artifact. \nIt's possible for a creature to uncover a delusion by making an ability check. For example, a successful Wisdom (Perception) check uncovers a horrific monster is truthfully a household pet. The DC to uncover a delusion is much higher than a regular ability check. \nIf you are using","cbCaicsSNZHG83Tf","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicsSNZHG83Tf","pdf",229122,"English","# The Sacred Artifacts\n## Wielding An ArtifAct\n## Attunement And Proficiency\n## Increasing Proficiency\n## Shared delusions\n## Dämglesvir (might of heAven)\n## Weapon Traits and Proficiency Levels","[{\"question\":\"What role do the four sacred artifacts play in the Bürach Empire?\",\"answer\":\"Each artifact is a divine gift from one of the four gods and was first given to Indorius I, then inherited by successors.
