upon us;nothing stands still, nothing seems to have stability. We go in one direction and then we try another. \nIn religious life, too,we are disoriented. We are at crossroads.Wehave to decide which road to take among so many. The need to makea choice imposes strain and tension. After all, what is the right direction? \nIndeed,this is an age when there are many trends and cross-currentsin the Christian community at large and in religious communities inparticular. Some trends are good;some are bad. Some are constructive;some other destructive. We must choose among them. And to choosewell,we need wisdom. \nWisdom means a capacity to discern right from wrong, good fromevil. It means an ability to examine intelligently and critically ideas andpropositions all around,to sense the interplay of values involved and tomake the best selection. \nThe wise man knows what he is doing and why.He is a person—what a praise! The foolish man does not know where he is going;hedrifts with the crowd;he masquerades in the thoughts of others. He isnot a person—what a blame! \nIn this world of confusion religious life is for persons who dare tomake choices and dare to be themselves for the better and for the worse. It is for those who can fight for their ideals but are equally ready toadmit their limitations and retrace their steps when it is necessary sothat from a better position they can start again. \nPersons,in spite of their limitations, are builders. They leave someachievement behind.Drifters take on the mind of someone else.Theynever build anything. They have no contribution to make since theyhave nothing original to give. \nReligious life has a future with persons. It has no future withdrifters. The right road in the midst of confusion will be found by wisemen and women who have strong personalities;drifters will just wanderaround until they are totally lost and exhausted.Perhaps we shouldhave said, the right road will be created by those men and women sincethey may have to be pioneers and go into territories that no one everexplored before. \nIt is easy to make the neat distinction between persons and driftersin theory. In practice in each one of us there is something of both.Weare all persons and drifters at once.God made us persons with the giftof grace and intelligence, yet at one time or another we followed thecrowd. To become fully person in God's kingdom,we are in need ofconversion. \n# RELIGIOUS LIFE IS CONVERSION\n\nOriginall","cbCaiauTEzDmdn0v","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiauTEzDmdn0v","pdf",2558629,68,"English","# The Process of Conversion\n## Religious life
