Alone on the station after crew downtime, Gideon reflects on his rigorous training, personality evaluations, and the mindset that kept him moving when others looked away. As the story shifts from routine maintenance to escalating events, survival rules and dangerous encounters set the stage for a LitRPG apocalypse journey.","THE PATH OF THE PORTAL MAGE \nAN APOCALYPSE LITRPG ADVENTURE \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nThe Path of the Portal Mage An Apocalypse LitRPG Adventure \nScott Dressur \nCopyright © 2026 Scott Dressur All rights reserved. \nThis is a work of fiction. Not frozen-solid-gonna-need-ablowtorch stuck. Just enough to make Gideon Wells float two \nhundred and fifty miles above the Earth, tethered to a space station that cost more than most countries' GDP, and mutter words that would've gotten his communications privileges revoked if anyone had been listening. \nNobody was listening. That was sort of the point. \n\"Come on, you miserable little- \" He adjusted the torque on his wrench, braced his boots against the mounting plate, and twisted. The bolt gave a quarter turn and stopped. \"Fantastic. Love this for me.\" \nThe Extravehicular Mobility Unit was, in theory, a marvel of engineering. In practice, it was a two-hundred-and-eighty-pound suit that turned every simple task into an exercise in controlled frustration. Gideon's fingers were thick inside the gloves, his range of motion was garbage, and the helmet visor had developed a faint smudge in the upper left corner that he couldn't reach and couldn't stop noticing. \nHe was on hour three of a repair that should've taken ninety minutes. Replacing a degraded thermal blanket on the station's starboard truss. Not glamorous work. Not the kind of thing that made it into press packages or recruitment videos. Nobody back home was going to see footage of Gideon Wells floating in the void, wrestling with a bolt and questioning his life choices, and think that's the guy I want to be. \nBut somebody had to do it. Somebody always had to do it. And somehow, across nearly a decade of training, waiting, scrubbing missions, and finally getting his shot, Gideon had become the somebody. \nHe gave the bolt another try. It yielded, grudgingly, like it wanted him to know this was a favor. \n\"Thank you,\" he said to no one. \"Your cooperation is noted and will be reflected in your performance review.\" \nThe Earth turned below him, indifferent to his problems. Blue and white and impossibly bright against the black. Gideon had been up here for eleven days now, solo, because the rotation schedule had slipped after Kowalski came down with an inner ear infection that grounded him for three weeks. The replacement crew was supposed to arrive in four days. Until then, it was just Gideon, the station, and a maintenance checklist that someone with a sense of humor had labeled \"Routine.\" \nHe didn't mind the solitude. That was the thing people never understood about him, the thing that made the psych evaluations come back with words like \"well-adjusted introvert\" and \"demonstrates healthy self-sufficiency","cbCaio2TDp3F7rh3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaio2TDp3F7rh3","pdf",3970603,9,272,"English","en",105,"# Contents\n## The Last Man in Orbit\n## The Sky Breaks\n## Threshold Survivor\n## First Blood\n## New Rules, No Answers\n## The Cost of Surviving\n## Glass Cannon\n## Method in the Madness\n## The Dead Convenience Store\n## Three Seconds Smarter\n## The Woman with the Knife\n## A Better Kind of Terrifying\n## The Rules People Won't Share\n## Silas Talks Too Much\n## Hunger, Training, Distance\n## The Family at Red Creek\n## First Reputation\n## Rift Crow Ambush\n## June Calder\n## Evolution at Twenty\n## The Change in His Eyes\n## Not Just a Survivor\n## The Man Who Closed the Breach\n## A Private Fire\n## Orin Vey\n## Signs of the Ossuary\n## The Silent Chapel\n## Grave Orbiters\n## A Door Best Left Closed\n## The Ossuary Warden\n## Breakpoint\n## The Brink\n## Astral Necromancer\n## Bone and Starlight\n## The First Revenant\n## The Things Worth Protecting\n## The Siege of Red Creek\n## The Offer\n## The First Gate","[{\"question\":\"Who is the main character, and what situation does he face at the start?\",\"answer\":\"Gideon Wells is the main character.
