\nJohn's patient, calm smile cooled the firkin of fire flecks that dartedfrom his friend's eyes.He explained to anxious Andy,\"Listen,you'renew here and we won't be back for all of two hours, and we don't knowwhat might happen in the meantime! Why,I heard of a real estatebroker who starved to death trying to find his way home.He went to hisoffice at eight in the morning, and by the time he was on his way homeat four-thirty,the corners he knew as landmarks looked like nuclearweapons hit them.He didn’t know which way to turn to get his subwaytrain.\" \nA Parish Visitor sister just might have heard John's hyperbolic re-marks on the redevelopment program around Lincoln Square in NewYork City, just a stone's throw from her convent on West 71st Street. If she did,she probably would have been tenpted to say, mentally to besure,“John, your wit has a whit of truth in it.” \nAmong other redevelopment projects in New York City is theLincoln Square group. It is changing a portion of the face of our con-vent's old neighborhood, from a maze of dilapidated tenements to acultural center.A few blocks south of us,at 6znd Street,Fordham Uni-versity is launching a building and education program of considerablemagnitude,\"to match new dimensions in knowledge of sea and spacewith facilities for breadth of wisdom and height of spirit\".Their newschools will cover seven and one-half acres of ground.Across 6znd Streetfrom the Fordhan site, and reaching up to 66th and Broadway, will bethe Lincoln Center for the Perforning Arts.Just last month the NewPhilharmonic Hal's foundation was begun. This building is scheduledto be finished for the 1961-62 season—the first to be completed in theArts groups.Fordhan plans to have their law school and new lawlibrary under construction by that
