\nThe one abont...is a collection of true stories about people, with nameschanged, who God has been working in and through in their everydayMonday to Saturday lives. That's not to say that all these people were sharplyaware of how God was working-often they weren't,until someone askedthem about it,or simply pointed it out.Actually, many of us are like that.We can't see what others can see.Indeed, many of the Christians I meet don'treally think that God is doing much in their lives, and genuinely struggle tosee how they might have done anything of any great significance for him.Often,it takes a while for people to see the beauty of what God hasbeen doing. \nEncouragingly,one of the ways we can learn to see God's hand more quicklyis to reflect on our lives in the light of the Bible. For example,we might askourselves:What connection or parallel do I see between the way God acted inDavid's or Deborah's life and the way he seems to be acting in mine? \n3 \n4 \nWhich fruit of the Spirit has Godenabled me,despite myself,to display in this situation? \nSo,in this collection,I've tried tohighlight the connections betweenthese contemporary testimoniesand biblical characters and teaching.Hopefully, this will help you to readyour own stories through biblicallenses, and so see what God hasbeen doing,or is doing,in yourown life.Hopefully too,it willencourage you to share your storieswith others, and respond in praise, thanksgiving, and prayer for God'scontinued work and presence. \nThere is a long history of God'speople talking about his work intheir lives. There are the Bible'smany encouragements to tell othersof all the Lord's wonderful deeds(Psalm 26:7);for one generation toinform another(Psalm 145:4);or,as Jesus tells the formerly demon-possessed man:‘Go home to your \nown people and tell them howmuch he has done for you, andhow he has had mercy on you'.(Mark 5:19)Similarly,there are thelong-tested spiritual disciplines ofmany traditions that encouragedaily reflection on what we see Goddoing and teaching us in our lives.Reflection often leads to discovery. And discovery can lead in anynumber of directions-to awe andpraise,to sorrow and confession,to renewed enthusiasm to pray,to sharing our testimonies for theencouragement of others,to newaction in God's world. \n# His Word &Our Words\n\nWe read God's words in the Bibleand it shapes our imagination ofwhat he's like and how we might livein ways that reflect his character. \nWe read his words in the Bible andit shapes our imagination aboutthe ways our foremothers and \nforefathers in the faith have soughtto follow him,and about how,asPaul puts it,we imitate them as theyimitate Christ. \nOf course, our testimonies, oureyewitness accounts,of God'saction in our lives are not meant todisplace the great story of God'sactions in time and his supremerevelation of himself throughChrist, but further illuminate it. \nSimilarly,we listen to the stories ofthe ways our contemporary sistersand brothers are living out theirtrust in Christ and we respond inpraise,or wonder,or repentance. And perhaps God uses those storiesto help us see how we might expressour love for Christ in our particularcontext-to his glory. \n'Go home to your own peopleand tell them how much hehas done for you,and howhe has had mercy on you'Mark 5:19 \nFurthermore,the stories of God'scontinuing action ","cbCairhdufrMMwRY","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairhdufrMMwRY","pdf",2064184,68,"English","# His Word & Our Words\n## Read, share, discuss","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the collection’s everyday stories?\",\"answer\":\"The stories highlight how God continues to work in and through people’s daily lives, encouraging readers to see divine possibilities they may otherwise miss.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the book suggest readers learn to recognize God’s hand more quickly?\",\"answer\":\"By reflecting on their own lives in the light of the Bible and asking questions about connections to how God acted in biblical characters’ lives.\"},{\"question\":\"How can readers use these stories for personal and group study?\",\"answer\":\"Readers can read all the way through alone, or read one in a group and discuss what stands out, including using the provided pause point and four guiding questions.\"}]","The One About God in Our Everyday Stories | PDF",1790653381,171]
