Instead, he talked about a \"history of philosophy narrated philosophically. \" One of Vico’s famous ideas is \"verum esse ipsum factum,\" which means \"the true itself is made,\" suggesting that knowledge is created through human actions. This idea is seen as an early version of constructivism, which is the belief that knowledge is built by people rather than just discovered.  \nThe New Science is the major work of Italian philosopher Giambattista Vico. First published in 1725 and revised in 1730 and 1744, it calls fora reinterpretation of human civilization by tracing the stages of historical development shared by all societies. Almost unknown during his lifetime, the work had a profound influence on later thinkers, from Montesquieu and Marx to Joyce and Gadamer. The introduction situates the work firmly within a contemporary context and newly establishes Vico as a thinker of modernity.  \nGiambattista Vico's The New Science (1725) initially received little attention but later became a foundational work in the philosophy of history, sociology, and anthropology, introducing original ideas that anticipated Enlightenment thinking.In 1720, Giambattista Vico began working on La Scienza Nuova (The New Science) as part of a  \ntreatise on universal rights. Originally, Cardinal Corsini was to sponsor the work, but Vico had to finance the publication himself after the cardinal withdrew due to financial difficulties. This marked the first time Vico wrote in Italian, as his earlier works had been in Latin.  \nThe first edition of The New Science was published in 1725. Vico later produced two heavily revised editions: the first in 1730 and the second posthumously in 1744.In the 1730 and 1744 editions, the first section titled \"Idea of the Work\"(Idea dell'Opera) presents The New Science as a \"science of reasoning\"(scienza di ragionare) . The work, particularly in the section \"Of the Elements,\" includes a dialectic between axioms (authoritative maxims or dignità) and \"reasonings\"(ragionamenti) that connect and clarify these axioms.  \nIn the third edition, Vico begins with a detailed examination of the frontispiece portrait, focusing on the place of Gentile nations within the providential guidance of the Hebrew God. The portrait contains several symbolic images relating to the flow of human history. A triangle with the Eye of Providence appears at the top left, its light shining on a brooch on the breastplate of a figure representing metaphysics, who surmounts the celestial globe. This beam of light reflects onto a robed figure standing on a pedestal, representing the poet Homer.  \nSurrounding these figures are various objects representing the stages of human history, which Vico categorizes into three epochs:  \n1.
