probably never will be finished.Family historiesgo on and on,and can change from day to day. However,I have thought it wiseto collect all of the available data and make it a matter of record here at thistime. To me it has been a matter of some pride to trace the Moore ancestry backto Pilgrim days, and through the Revolutionary War period. My hope is thatsome day future research may trace the genealogy still further, obviously to datesand places in the British Isles;but old records were often lost or destroyed, which makes tracing rather dilficult. \nAt first glance you will note a variance in the spelling of the name of Moorein the old records. This is partly due to the personal preferences of the name hold-ers,and perhaps it may have been spelled that way in Old Scotlaud.Partly it isdue to the illegibility of the ancient hand-written records. The old English Swas usually written by a character resembling a small f,which easily became asmall e in handwritten records. Thus the first Abraham Moore of Andover, ourfirst direct ancestor in this country, was variously known as Mooar,Moors andMoor, had his will drawn as Abraham Moore, and signed it Abraham Moor. \nThe family line is complete as far as it goes, from 1599 to the present time, arecord of three hundred and sixty-three years. \n21 Allen L.Moore \n6-11-63 \nFairmont,Minnesota,1962. \n# Searching for
