It highlights testimonies of soldiers who carry the Crucifix and encounter indigenous communities, and it acknowledges contact between armed forces and Catholic missionaries across engineering, economics, scholarship, and cultural understanding. world.Yet—the very darkness of that tragedy turned a suddenlight on the last will and testament of Christ:\"Going,therefore,teachye all nations.”In the midst of bombings and battlefields, pestilenceand famine, virile Christians from primitive paganism and sophisti-cated civilizations met as man to man. They faced life—and deathtogether.Their common bond was the Crucifix. \n# Tribute to Heroes\n\nIt is well known that American fiers over the Pacific, whatevertheir religion,or even if they had no religion at all, wore a Crucifix. We could multiply stories of fiers whose forced landings found themin the midst of native tribes whose language they did no know.Arosary,a Crucifix,a Sign of the Cross,—and the natives befriendedthem. With all the simplicity and directness of unspoiled Christianitythey received the fliers as brothers in Christ. You know the stories ofchaplains, separated from their units and lost in the jungle;of nativetribes who beat the drums to welcome those chaplains, calling Chris-tians from far and wide to rejoice in the presence of a priest;a priestwhom they honored with all the vigor and fervor of their living faith.as the ambassador of Christ. You have read in letters from your boysand girls about the depth and sincerity of the Christianity of primitivetribesmen who lived in the midst of pervading paganism.Such livingis eloquent witness to the work of the Catholic missionary in foreigncountries. \nMembers of our armed forces have also","cbCaielVi7Gs4sWK","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaielVi7Gs4sWK","pdf",1084258,28,"English","# THE MISSION CHURCH\n## A BOY’S
