millennials, but teenagers and all seeking to live a life offaith with the wisdom of the ages in a personal way will find meaning in Joel'svision of life. This vision can be presented as a very short story: \nThere was a person who knew the locusts of life. The locusts caused devasta-tion,loss,and trauma.He/she/they mourned the losses and sought heal-ing for the traumas by building life-giving communities and nurturing his/her/their spirituality.He/she/they discovered the compassionate God whopromises restoration and pours the Spirit over all.The person(s)embracedaccountability, knowing that decisions made and actions taken have conse-quences.He/she/they participated in God's restorative work toward a justsociety and a sustainable earth. The person(s)lived the good life \nThe disclosive power ofScripture invites us intoa new reality. \nMuch,if not all, that happens to one in life can be placed into this vi-sion of life from the book of Joel.It is an archetypal story of life, with oneact spiraling into the other to circle back, for life rarely follows a straight line. \nBiblical narratives such as Joel's invite transformation by validating one'scurrent experience and disclosing a new reality to us.Simply put,the Bibleopens a new reality for us and invites us into that reality.Prophets bring“an \nWelcome \nalternative consciousnes...[creating]the sense of new realities that can betrusted and relied upon just when the old realities had left us hopeles. It isthe task of the prophet to bring to expression the new realities against themore visible ones of the old order.Energizing is closelylinked with hope.” \nMillennials are interested in thegood life. \nHistorically,Christianity has proclaimed the good neus, which is oftenlimited to introducing a loving \"Father,\"encouraging a personal relation-ship with Jesus, offering salvation from personal sin,and extending an invita-tion to join the church as the body of Christ. Many persons today, especiallythe millennial generation, have no personal connection with these particularfoci.Rather, they are interested in the good life,a presence and future thatseem elusive amid employment and financial uncertainties, health and healthcare concerns, political apprehension, and an earth strain","cbCainSda8ue0LXK","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainSda8ue0LXK","pdf",3462055,"English","# Guidelines for Using the
