thatlooks out upon the street. The day has beenlong and tiring, full of unsolved problems andof questions seemingly without answers-allproblems of those whom I serve. For I ama nurse and long ago I chose to serve wher-ever there is a need. \nI drop into my chair and look out of thewindow to see the lights coming on in thehomes along the street, not only the houselights, but also the colorful and gay twinklinglights of the Christmas trees which herald thecoming holiday. On the top of each tree I seea bright and luminous star,a reminder of thestar that once spilled its radiance over astable in the little village of Bethlehem-the same star that guided wise men to thestable. My thoughts go back to that far offnight.Suddenly I realize that in that stablethe wisdom of the ages bowed down and wor-shiped and brought gifts of gold, frankincenseand myrrh. Here they learned a greater wis-dom and found a greater gift. The brillianceof the star awakened the shepherds and theshepherds heard the angels'song-\"Glory toGod,peace on earth, goodwill toward men.\"They,too,went to the stable and worshipedand learned new ways. When they returnedto their sheep, they were as new men ready todo God's work. The splendor of the star wasthere for all,the glory of the song for all.Yet,only a few did see and only a few didhear and none did fully understand. All ofthis happened almost two thousand years ago.It was so simple and so wonderful. It was forthe many but only a few really understood thestar and the song.It was so then-how is
