While navigating dangerous terrain in near silence, the protagonist hears mounted riders closing in and discovers a tense hunt unfolding in a clearing. A young woman with desperation in her ride is captured or restrained by an organized group using crossbows, aiming to keep her alive. The scene emphasizes magic-like abilities, uneven power dynamics, and the protagonist’s reluctant involvement.","The Hallow-Five Chapter Preview \nS.A. I knelt, tied the rabbit’s legs, and slung the weight over my shoulder before turning back toward camp. It wouldn’t make much of a stew, but it would feed one man for the night. \nPylin Forest wasn’t easy to navigate. The woods here were dense, the ground a tangle of roots and hidden dips. Most travelers stayed to the main roads farther north, where the paths were wide and worn, with just enough clearance for horses and wagons. \nDown here, the trail narrowed into something far less forgiving. That suited me qne. The forest demanded attention. It didn’t allow drifting thoughts or sloppy movement, and I trusted places that reAuired both. \nTraveling on a horse would only slow the journey, at least compared to the way I moved. \n—faint shudder ran through the ground. \nI stopped. \n—t qrst, the sound was low, nearly lost beneath the rustle of dry leaves. Then the rhythm resolved2hooves striking earth, leather creaking, metal shifting. \nR \nUiders. \nxnusual this deep in the forest. More so at that speed. \nI crouched beside a cluster of mossy stones and waited as the noise grew clearer. \nMore than one rider. They moved in formation, forcing their way through the brush, horses high-stepping over thick, eOposed roots. Cne of the riders cursed as they passed. They ran no more than twenty paces downhill. \nLuriosity edged out caution as I drifted toward the slope’s edge, slipping between twisted limbs of tree trunks until I had a clear view. From there, I studied their formation. \nFlashes of movement cut between the trees. They rode fast2too fast for anyone who knew this forest. Boud, careless. Wranches snapped and scraped against cloaks as they passed. They muscled through, reacting only after the branches struck. \nI kept pace from the higher ground, running parallel to their line. My feet made no sound as I stayed out of sight. The rabbit dangling from the rope thudded lightly against my back with each step. \nMy shirt was going to be stained with blood by sundown. The thought irritated me brieNy, then it passed. \nI drew on Hind Lasting. The air parted ahead of me, carrying my stride faster, weaving between the trees in near silence. Hhen they broke into a clearing, I qnally got a good look. Eine riders, one leading a few paces ahead. \nThe riders crossed the glade, cloaks shifting like shadows slipping free of the trees. \nThat was when I saw her. \nHhile the others wore full cloaks, she stood out in her short black shirt, making no attempt to blend it. 3er qery hair caught the light like a beacon in a sea of green. 3er face tensed each time she looked \nT3S 3—BBCH z \nover her shoulder. 'he looked young, early twenties, maybe.—small dagger hung at her waist. \nThere was desperation in the way she rode. Then I realiVed she was trying to get away. \nEow that the forest thinned, they began to close the distance. \nI stayed on higher ground, remaining unseen. Their focus never left the chase. \nI considered dropping the rabbit to free my hands but dismissed the thought. I hadn’t tracked it this far just to waste it. \n'he was losing ground. Eo matter how hard she pushed, they were gaining. \nThe group4s frontrunner, an older man, raised a hand. \nBightning ripped through the trees, crackling with violent energy. The strike hit the horse low and hard2a crack of brilliant force. \nThe animal screamed, bucked, and collapsed mid-stride, dragging her down with it. \n'he recovered Auickly, but instead of reaching for her dagger, she raised both hands, ","cbCaiaFW4w8MIwhG","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiaFW4w8MIwhG","pdf",233934,53,"English","en",105,"# Chapter 1\n## Artemis\n# Chapter 2\n## (Preview excerpt)\n# Chapter 3\n## (Preview excerpt)\n# Chapter 4\n## (Preview excerpt)\n# Chapter 5\n## (Preview excerpt)","[{\"question\":\"Who is Artemis in the Chapter One preview?\",\"answer\":\"Artemis appears as the young woman targeted in the riders’ hunt, riding with desperation and standing out in the clearing while keeping her hands raised.\"},{\"question\":\"Why are the pursuing riders significant beyond being an ordinary group?\",\"answer\":\"The narrative signals they are organized and unnaturally capable, including a lightning variant and the intent to capture her alive rather than kill her.\"},{\"question\":\"What problem does the protagonist face while traveling through Pylin Forest?\",\"answer\":\"The protagonist must navigate dense, root-tangled terrain while staying hidden, then chooses whether to stay uninvolved when the chase draws close.\"}]","The Hallow -
