The son of an impoverished schoolmaster who drank himself to death, he was left at the age of thirteen without adequate parental control and quickly acquired the tastes and habits of a hobo or beatnik. \nThis born truant first saw the light of day in Prague on 30 April 188 3 in a house in a street called appropriately enough Skolska, or'School Street '. A Prague newspaper, Ndrodui fisty, published anonymously his first story at a time when the young author was making vacation trips in Moravia, Slovakia, Hungary and Galicia. He set offwithout a penny in his pocket and supported himself by begging, consorting with gipsies, tramps and vagabondsand acquiring many bad habits from them. \nHis good record at the Commercial Academy won Hasek a place in the Slavia Bank in 1 902 but he threw it up and went off to Slovakia instead. A few weeks later he returned and was indulgently taken back, but when a month later he absconded on another jaunt h","cbCailmi0gYWJ0Zw","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailmi0gYWJ0Zw","pdf",6072790,782,"English","# Introduction\n## Jaroslav Hašek’s background\n## Education and early writing\n## Anarchist involvement and conflicts\n## Love affair and consequences","[{\"question\":\"Who is Jaroslav Hašek in the introduction, and why is he described as atypical for a Czech bohemian?\",\"answer\":\"Hašek is described as a true bohemian, yet untypical for the meaning of the term “La Boheme,” shaped by his unusual life of vagrancy and mischief.\"},{\"question\":\"How did Hašek’s youth and employment experiences contribute to his later literary work?\",\"answer\":\"His early work, including time connected to a chemist’s shop, is noted as reflected not only in The Good Soldier Švejk but also in other stories, showing how he stored material for later use.\"},{\"question\":\"What role did political activity and legal troubles play in Hašek’s life as described here?\",\"answer\":\"The introduction recounts increasing anarchist involvement, resulting police conflicts, arrests, and a month’s imprisonment, framing these experiences as part of the forces shaping his trajectory.\"}]","The Good Soldier Svejk - A new and unabridged translation | PDF",1204]
