In this forest, was a Babul tree who loved everybody. Noisy birds with colourful feathers, swift snakes with shiny scales and naughty monkeys with matted fur; all loved living in her branches and trunk. Even the trees of the forest were her friends .  \nOne day, a lot of humans with round, hard hats and vests came to the forest.  \nThey painted numbers on the trunks of all the trees . Rumour in the wind was that all the numbered trees were going to be cut.  \nBabul felt helpless .  \nThat night when all her friends were asleep, Babul prayed to the old spirit of the forest.“O Vagdev! I have heard you are the protector of this forest. Can you protect my friends and me?” Suddenly, Babul heard a growl. A huge, cat-like creature walked towards her with soft steps. It had a majestic gait and purposeful glance .  \nIt could not be a regular animal! Babul was elated!\"O Vagdev! You have heard my prayers!\"  \n“I am no Vagdev . I am Bindu the leopard.” the creature said.“I am looking for Hirvadev to save my son . He was wounded by a snare trap.” she said with moist eyes . Up close she looked nothing like a God.  \nShe had panic in her voice and smelled like mud and blood.  \n“I am sorry. I may not be able to help you find Hirvadev . But my leaves have medicinal properties . They might be able to soothe your son’s pain .”Babul replied.  \nShe lowered her branch and offered her leaves . Bindu took the leaves, thanked the tree and sprinted back to her son . She applied a salve on his wounds and in just a few days, the wound began to heal. The cub recovered. Bindu felt grateful.  \n“I hope Babul is okay. I hope Vagdev saved her .” she thought.  \nWhile hunting that night, Bindu heard a human voice . She peered from a bush. She saw a woman in front of a stone, praying.  \n“ O Vagdev!
