A woman trapped by a violent storm confronts the fear that her sister’s killer has returned, while her thoughts spiral into urgency and exposure. The story also shifts into an intimate, emotionally heavy hospital scene as a struggling mother’s condition deepens the protagonist’s grief and resolve, reinforcing secrets, vulnerability, and peril.","THE GLASS HOUSE \nAN ABSOLUTELY GRIPPING AND SUSPENSEFUL PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER PACKED WITH TWISTS \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nBOOKS BY VICTORIA JENKINS \nThe Glass House \nThe Guilty Daughter \nIt’s Me or Her \nThe Woman in Our Marriage \nThe Mother ’s Phone Call \nThe Open Marriage \nYour Perfect Life \nHappily Married \nThe Midwife \nThe Bridesmaids \nThe New Family \nThe Playdate \nThe Accusation \nThe Argument \nThe Divorce \nDETECTIVES KING AND LANE SERIES \nThe Girls in the Water \nThe First One to Die \nNobody’s Child \nA Promise to the Dead \nAVAILABLE IN AUDIO \nThe Guilty Daughter (Available in the UK and the US) It’s Me or Her (Available in the UK and the US) The Woman in Our Marriage (Available in the UK and the US) The Mother ’s Phone Call (Available in the UK and the US) The Open Marriage (Available in the UK and the US) Your Perfect Life (Available in the UK and the US) Happily Married (Available in the UK and the US) \nThe Midwife (Available in the UK and the US) The Bridesmaids (Available in the UK and the US) The New Family (Available in the UK and the US) The Playdate (Available in the UK and the US) The Accusation (Available in the UK and the US) The Argument (Available in the UK and the US) The Divorce (Available in the UK and the US) \nDETECTIVES KING AND LANE SERIES The Girls in the Water (Available in the UK and the US) \nThe First One to Die (Available in the UK and the US) Nobody’s Child (Available in the UK and the US) \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nCONTENTS \nPrologue \nChapter 1 \nChapter 2 \nChapter 3 \nChapter 4 \nChapter 5 \nChapter 6 \nChapter 7 \nChapter 8 \nChapter 9 \nChapter 10 \nChapter 11 \nChapter 12 \nChapter 13 \nChapter 14 \nChapter 15 \nChapter 16 \nChapter 17 \nChapter 18 \nChapter 19 \nChapter 20 \nChapter 21 \nChapter 22 \nChapter 23 \nChapter 24 \nChapter 25 \nChapter 26 \nChapter 27 \nChapter 28 \nChapter 29 \nChapter 30 \nChapter 31 \nChapter 32 \nChapter 33 \nChapter 34 \nChapter 35 \nChapter 36 \nChapter 37 \nChapter 38 \nChapter 39 \nChapter 40 \nChapter 41 \nChapter 42 \nChapter 43 \nHappily Married \nPrologue \nOne \nTwo \nHear More from Victoria \nBooks by Victoria Jenkins \nA Letter from Victoria \nThe Mother ’s Phone Call \nThe Open Marriage \nThe Argument \nAcknowledgements \nPublishing Team \nRaising Readers \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nFor my sister, Sam, with love and thanks \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nA noise like a gunshot sounds out behind me. The doors shake under the force of the gale. A thin crack, no wider than a needle, runs a foot or so down the length of the glass. The wind screams at the doors, making them shudder in their frame. Outside, a wall of darkness greets me, staring back at me with blackened eyes. \nAnd then there’s a second crack in the silence as the glass fractures further. I watch in panic as the pane splinters, the single line spreading its fingers as though greeting me with an outstretched palm whilst outside the wind howls, a banshee lurking in the darkness. I tell myself the window isn’t going to cave in, but I’m not sure I believe myself. What if the entire panel shatters under the force of the wind? What if the crack is deep enough that the rest of the pane can’t withstand the damage? \nI imagine myself standing in the middle of the living room, surrounded by a sea of shattered glass, while the wind gushes through the building, sweeping every cushion from the sofas and every utensil from its place in the kitchen. I see the weather, fierce and unforgiving as it rips through the house like a black cloud, destroying everything in its path. \nAnd then I see a movement outside – a shadow where the land curves towards the road below – and I know that whatever else my brain might have conjured, I didn’t imagine this. The thought that my sister ’s killer has come back for me hangs heavy in the air, blocking my escape; trapping me here. \nI feel a creeping headache growing at my temples.
