The villagefolk fondly called him Uncle Joe. He liked this nickname very much.  \nUncle Joe was a very rich man . He owned houses, shops, cars, and cattle . He used to dress in expensive clothes. Uncle Joe lived like a prince .  \nHe had grown up with two other boys  \nof the town . They were Mà'njo and Lé'njo.  \nMa'njo and Le'njo were very close friends of Uncle Joe . When they were young, they went hunting together .  \nAs young kids of the same village, they used to play together and eat together. There was no distinction among them. Some times they spent the nights together.  \nNow that they had grown to become adults, they realized the natural differences among them. Uncle Joe had succeeded in his life. He was a big business man .  \nMa'njo and Le'njo were not as fortunate. They neither had money, nor did they possess any other material wealth. They were very poor.  \nBut, this difference in social status did not affect their friendship.  \nUncle Joe sat one day and thought about his friends. He was eager to help them.  \n\"I must help these my friends out of poverty. But I don't want to give them fish. I will better teach them how to fish,\" he decided.  \nHe had remebered the famous Chinese saying that it is more helpful to teach someone how to fend for themself. This helps the person to remember to be careful. Rather than give him what he or she needs. It makes them lazy and careless.  \nUncle Joe made a plan. In his compound, there was a deep well. This well was full of water.  \n\"I will drop two packets into the well. If Ma'njo and Le'njo succeed to get them, the packets will become theirs,\"he thought.  \nHe tied two equal bundles of gold coins and dropped them into the well. Then, he called for his two poor friends.  \n\"I have some work to do in my compound. When you will finish it, I will give each of you some compensation. \" he told his friends.  \n\"What kind of work shall we do?\"Le'njo asked. He was thinking maybe they will clear Uncle Joe's farm.  \n\"Behind my house is a well. I want you to draw water out of it. You must use the water to fill that basket,\" Uncle Joe replied, pointing to a small bamboo basket standing nearby.  \nThe two friends thought Uncle Joe was joking. They assumed it was a very easy job to do.  \n\"With a few buckets of water, the basket will be full. And he will give us our reward,\" they imagined.  \nWhen he had given them the buckets to be used to draw water, Uncle Joe left.  \nLe'njo and Ma'njo set to work, drawing water and pouring it into the bamboo basket. But, they soon realised that the work was not as easy as they had thought. As soon as they poured water into the basket, it came out almost immediately.  \nMa'njo became very angry. He even wanted to abandon the work.
