Ladeha thinks that he is very beautiful. He loves getting praised by everyone.  \nUsing sand from the river, Ladeha makes astool to sit on . Since it is only sand, the stool falls apart.  \nBut Ladeha finds a way to make it stronger.  \nHe catches two frogs from the river, wears them as earrings, and sits on the sand stool.  \nJust then, a man approaches the river. Stopping him, Ladeha asks,”Oye, human! First, tell me, how do I look? Only then will I let you cross this brook.”  \nIn order to please Ladeha, the man starts to sing:  \n”On a sand-stool, a sand-stool,  \nsprinkled with sandalwood Sits a wise man who wears Pearl earrings on both ears .”  \nAfter listening to this praise, Ladeha gloatsand says,”Ok, human. You can go.”  \nA moment later, a buffalo comes to bathein the water. Ladeha asks her the same question,”Oye, buffalo! First, tell me, how do I look? Only then will I let you bathe in this brook.”  \nIn order to please Ladeha, the buffalo starts to sing:  \n”On a sand-stool, a sand-stool, sprinkled with gold  \nSits a mighty lord who wears Silver earrings on both ears .”  \nAfter listening to this praise, Ladeha gloatsand says,”Ok, buffalo. You can go.”  \nSoon after, a calf appears to drink water. The calf’s name is Bachhiya. Bachhiya is carefree and defiant. Ladeha asks her the same question,”Oye, Bachhiya! First, tell me, how do I look? Only then will I let you drink from this brook.”  \nBachhiya gets annoyed. Why should anyone have to praise Ladeha just to drink from the river?
