It details the specific anatomical proportions required for both female and male figures, noting the use of nine-head height measurements compared to the standard human form. The text explores the technical aspects of fashion illustration, including the importance of consistent proportions for comparative analysis, the inclusion of fabric samples, and the professional methodology used by renowned designers like Jason Wu and Yves Saint Laurent to present collections effectively. By emphasizing the stylized nature of these sketches—such as high-waisted female frames and contrapposto poses—the guide offers a clear framework for designers to master technical fashion drawing and industry-standard presentation techniques.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":53,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/lifestyle/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-fashion-figure-a-guide-to-croquis-proportions-and-presentation/489143/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/the-fashion-figure-a-guide-to-croquis-proportions-and-presentation/489143.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"CatatanPagi","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-23","2026-10-01",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":8},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"What is a croquis in fashion design?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"A croquis is a skeletal figure sketch used as a template on which fashion designers draw clothing designs to visualize how a garment will fit and drape.","Answer",{"name":115,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":116},"How do the proportions of a fashion figure differ from a standard human form?",{"text":117,"@type":113},"While a natural human form is typically eight heads tall, a fashion figure is elongated to be nine heads tall or more, allowing for a more stylized and elongated representation of the clothing.",{"name":119,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":120},"Why are fabric samples included in fashion illustrations?",{"text":121,"@type":113},"Fabric samples are included during collection presentations to provide a tactile reference for the textures, materials, and colors intended for each specific garment, ensuring accurate identification.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":124,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":126,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":128,"site_id":62},489143,1792797608,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":131},{"doc_id":128,"user_id":132,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":133,"doc_module":4,"category_id":52,"category_name":53,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":134,"file_id":135,"file_url":136,"file_type":137,"file_size":138,"view_count":8,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":29,"language":139,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":140,"faqs":141,"seo_title":142,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":143,"read_time":44},962090894170,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_6f874abed73319feea01a86fa6f0fab8","The Fashion Figure aka the Croquis \nIn fashion, the term croquis refers to a sketch of a figure on which clothing will later be placed. Unlike the human form, which is eight heads tall, the fashion figure (both male and female) is nine heads tall or taller. \nFemale Croquis Proportions \nIn the female croquis , the 9th head is added to the length of the legs, specifically the feet, which always appear as if they are in high-heels. The female croquis is highwaisted, with narrow hips , broad, square shoulders, and is often drawn in a contrapposto pose (one hip up and one shoulder down) as seen in the figure on the right. \nMale Croquis Proportions \nThe male croquis still takes on 9 heads but unlike its female counterpart, there is less distortion. The body is elongated proportionally and the pelvis remains at the vertical center. The legs however, are thin and show no muscle tone unlike the upper body. \nFashion Illustrations \nIf more than one croquis is used when presenting a collection, each croquis is drawn with the exact proportions (height, bust-line, waist-line, hip-line), so that the change in proportion of each garment is clear to the viewer. For consistency, the same croquis is often reused when drawing each garment. \nFashion Illustrations by Alexander McQueen \nFashion Illustrations by Jason Wu \nFashion Illustration Presentation \nWhen presenting a collection, each garment is given a name or number as a means of identification and will usually include fabric samples. \nIllustrations with fabric samples by Yves Saint Laurent \nIllustrations with fabric samples by Christian Dior","cbCaigPUXfFyMPrF","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigPUXfFyMPrF","pdf",1913438,"English","# The Fashion Figure (Croquis)\n## Female and Male Croquis Proportions\n## Fashion Illustration Techniques\n## Collection Presentation and Fabric Samples","[{\"question\":\"What is a croquis in fashion design?\",\"answer\":\"A croquis is a skeletal figure sketch used as a template on which fashion designers draw clothing designs to visualize how a garment will fit and drape.\"},{\"question\":\"How do the proportions of a fashion figure differ from a standard human form?\",\"answer\":\"While a natural human form is typically eight heads tall, a fashion figure is elongated to be nine heads tall or more, allowing for a more stylized and elongated representation of the clothing.\"},{\"question\":\"Why are fabric samples included in fashion illustrations?\",\"answer\":\"Fabric samples are included during collection presentations to provide a tactile reference for the textures, materials, and colors intended for each specific garment, ensuring accurate identification.\"}]","The Fashion Figure - A Guide to Croquis Proportions and Presentation | PDF",1790820819]
