It describes cycles of violent succession, including Shallum’s rise through killing Zechariah, and later the deaths of Shallum, Pekahiah, and Pekah. It further recounts pressure from Assyria: invasion, tribute of vast silver, city captures in Galilee and Gilead, and deportations as prisoners, culminating in Hoshea’s reign under renewed attack.","069 The Fall of Israel \n1 Kings 13,15,16,22 2 Kings 3,10,13-17 2 Kings \n15:8-17:24 \nEnglish Spiritual \n069 The Fall of Israel \nEnglish \n© 2020 Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. But all of the kings of the northern kingdom, Israel, were men who led the people of Israel to sin by doing what the Lord said was wrong. \nFor example, Shallum became the king of Israel by killing King Zechariah. Menahem became king by killing Shallum. Menahem was king in Israel for ten years. But, he did nothing to turn his people away from their sins. \nWhile Menahem was king in Israel, the king of Assyria and his army invaded Israel. The king of Israel had to give him a huge amount of silver in order to remain king. \nWhen Menahem died, his son Pekahiah became king. He disobeyed the Lord and caused the Israelites to sin. Pekahiah ruled Israel for two years before Pekah, who became the next king, murdered him. \nWhile Pekah was king in Israel, the king of Assyria, Tiglath-Pileser came with his army to fight against Israel again. This time he captured many cities in Galilee and Gilead, and he took many people to Assyria as prisoners. \nAfter that, Hoshea killed Pekah and then became the king in Israel. During Hoshea’s reign, the new king of Assyria, Shalmaneser, attacked Israel.","cbCaic8j0tgfC2wU","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaic8j0tgfC2wU","pdf",3080957,2,1,19,"English","en",105,"# The Kings of Israel and Sin\n## Violent Successions\n## Assyrian Invasions and Consequences","[{\"question\":\"Why did Israel’s kings lead the people into sin?\",\"answer\":\"All of Israel’s northern kingdom kings led the people into sin by doing what the Lord said was wrong, unlike some loyal kings of Judah.\"},{\"question\":\"How did Menahem become king, and what did he do afterward?\",\"answer\":\"Menahem became king by killing Shallum.
