The text recounts the plans of the chief priests and scribes, Judas Iscariot’s betrayal, and preparations for the Passover, including Jesus’ words over bread and the cup. It then moves through Gethsemane—prayer, anguish, and the disciples’ inability to stay awake—leading to the betrayal signal, the arrest, and Jesus being seized.","English Spiritual \nCopyright © 2021, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him. \n4 \nMark 14: 16,22-26 \nHis disciples went out and came into the city and found things as he had said to them and they prepared the Passover. \nAs they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed, he broke it and gave to them, and said,“Take, eat. This is my body” He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it. He said to them,“This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many. Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the Kingdom of God ”When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. \n5 \nMark 14:32-34 \nThey came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples,“Sit here while I pray” He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed. He said to them,“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch ” \n6 \nMark 14: 35,36 \nHe went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. He said,“Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire ” \n7 \nMark 14: 37-41 \nHe came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour? Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak ” Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. Again he returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they didn’t know what to answer him. He came the third time and said to them,“Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners \" \n8 \nMark 14: 42-46 \nArise! Let us be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand ”Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came-and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying,“Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely”When he had come, immediately he came to him and said,“Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him. They laid their hands on him and seized him.","cbCaiaov9KZGlFJs","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiaov9KZGlFJs","pdf",8560777,5,1,28,"English","en",105,"# The Easter Story\n## Mark 14:1-2\n## Mark 14:10\n## Mark 14:16,22-26\n## Mark 14:32-34\n## Mark 14:35-36\n## Mark 14:37-41\n## Mark 14:42-46","[{\"question\":\"Where does the Easter Story text come from?\",\"answer\":\"It is taken from quotations of the Gospel of Mark, specifically Mark 14:1–46.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens during the Passover preparation?\",\"answer\":\"Jesus’ disciples go into the city to prepare the Passover, and during the meal Jesus speaks over the bread and the cup.\"},{\"question\":\"What occurs in Gethsemane before the betrayal?\",\"answer\":\"Jesus prays with Peter, James, and John while they struggle to stay awake, and he expresses deep sorrow before moving toward the coming hour.\"}]",1784311415,71,{"code":4,"msg":31,"data":32},"ok",{"site_id":25,"language":24,"slug":33,"title":13,"keywords":34,"description":14,"schema_data":35,"social_meta":87,"head_meta":89,"extra_data":91,"updated_unix":28},"the-easter-story-mark-14-1-46-bible-story-and-readings","",{"@graph":36,"@context":86},[37,54,69],{"@type":38,"itemListElement":39},"BreadcrumbList",[40,44,48,51],{"item":41,"name":42,"@type":43,"position":21},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":45,"name":46,"@type":43,"position":47},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":49,"name":12,"@type":43,"position":50},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/religion-spirituality/",3,{"item":52,"name":13,"@type":43,"position":53},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-easter-story-mark-14-1-46-bible-story-and-readings/92056/",4,{"url":52,"name":13,"@type":55,"author":56,"headline":13,"publisher":58,"fileFormat":61,"inLanguage":24,"description":14,"dateModified":62,"datePublished":63,"encodingFormat":61,"isAccessibleForFree":64,"interactionStatistic":65},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":57},"Person",{"url":41,"name":59,"@type":60},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-29","2026-07-17",true,{"@type":66,"interactionType":67,"userInteractionCount":20},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":68},"ViewAction",{"@type":70,"mainEntity":71},"FAQPage",[72,78,82],{"name":73,"@type":74,"acceptedAnswer":75},"Where does the Easter Story text come from?","Question",{"text":76,"@type":77},"It is taken from quotations of the Gospel of Mark, specifically Mark 14:1–46.","Answer",{"name":79,"@type":74,"acceptedAnswer":80},"What happens during the Passover preparation?",{"text":81,"@type":77},"Jesus’ disciples go into the city to prepare the Passover, and during the meal Jesus speaks over the bread and the cup.",{"name":83,"@type":74,"acceptedAnswer":84},"What occurs in Gethsemane before the betrayal?",{"text":85,"@type":77},"Jesus prays with Peter, James, and John while they struggle to stay awake, and he expresses deep sorrow before moving toward the coming hour.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":52,"og:type":88,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":59,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":90,"canonical":52},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":25},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":93},[94,98,102,106,110,115,120,125,128,131,135],{"id":21,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":95,"show_sort_weight":96,"slug":97},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":47,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":99,"show_sort_weight":100,"slug":101},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":53,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":103,"show_sort_weight":104,"slug":105},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":20,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":107,"show_sort_weight":108,"slug":109},"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":111,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":112,"show_sort_weight":113,"slug":114},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":116,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":117,"show_sort_weight":118,"slug":119},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":121,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":122,"show_sort_weight":123,"slug":124},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":130},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":133,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":134},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":136,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":137,"show_sort_weight":20,"slug":138},19,"General","general"]
