UMAT is designed to assess general attributes and abilities gained through prior experience and learning; specifically, the acquisition of skills in critical thinking and problem solving, understanding people and abstract non-verbal reasoning. It is an aptitude test, not a personality or IQ test.  \nEstablishment of the bursary  \nThe bursary was established by Old Scholar Dr Matthew Jones (Joint Dux of the College in 2007) to assist a Year 12 Immanuel student gain entry to undergraduate medicine, dentistry and health science degree programs at universities which are part of the UMAT Consortium. *  \nWhat does the bursary cover?  \nThe bursary covers the cost of registration for the UMAT. UMAT Practice Test 1 with worked solutions is included in the UMAT registration fee.  \nEligibility  \nYear 12 Immanuel students who undertake to pursue a degree in medicine or health sciences are eligible to apply for the bursary. UMAT scores are valid for one year, e. g. UMAT 2017 will be valid for applications to enter an undergraduate medicine or health science course commencing in 2018 only. Application forms may be downloaded from the College website. Applications will be ranked by a panel of staff including the Head of Secondary School and relevant Head of Department and forwarded to Dr Jones to determine the successful applicant. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview at the College.  \nKey dates  \nUMAT 2017 will be held on Wednesday, 26 July.
