So I find two thin pieces of bamboo, a razor blade, and a plastic shopping bag and begin making my kite.  \nFirst, I tie the bamboo sticks to make a cross. Then I cut the  \n1  \nNow I need a string for my kite. I search in the kitchen, and under the house. But I can't find any. So I climb down the cliff to where we dump the rubbish. I am looking for a tenkilogram rice bag. While I am searching, I hear the boys coming up the track. They shout at me,“Are you coming or not?”  \n“I’ll catch up,” I yell. I find a tenkilogram rice bag and run back to the house. Already I can see two kites flying. More boys run past with their  \n2  \nAs I run up the hill, I count the kites flying. There are nine of them. I hold mine up and let it fly up in the breeze. I watch it fly with the others. Our kites dance in the air.  \nTen diamond shaped dragons.  \nI keep pulling the string from the rice bag. Higher and higher goes my kite, above all the others. It is the chief of all the diamond shaped dragons.  \n3  \nThen I look down. All that is left in my hand is the nylon stitching from the end of the rice bag.
