Originating from the Paleng Children’s Centre in Lesotho, this work is part of the African Storybook Initiative and is made available under a Creative Commons license, encouraging adaptation and commercial use with proper attribution. The story unfolds with Mother Sun deciding to visit her sister, the Moon, who resides on the opposite side of the sky. Before her departure, Sun assures the clouds of her swift return. As Sun leaves, a transformation occurs: the mountains don their white scarves, and an argument erupts between Wind and the trees, leading the trees to angrily scatter their leaves. The sky begins to grumble and turns grey. Witnessing these events, the clouds become sorrowful and commence crying, releasing numerous tears that cause the entire world to be submerged in water, creating a dramatic and imaginative scenario within this children's tale.","The day the Sun went away \nWriter: Khothatso Ranoosi and Marion Drew Illustration: Jesse Breytenbach \nEnglish Story Book \nThe day the Sun went away \nWriter: Khothatso Ranoosi and Marion Drew Illustration: Jesse Breytenbach African Storybook Initiative \nEnglish \nCopyright © 2015, African Storybook Initiative \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work.
