And when Ma catches crabs from the nearby stream, she always brings some home for Parani to eat.  \nAs jhum farmers, Parani’s family often need to find a new field to grow their crops. They have chosen to do jhum cultivation on a very high hill called Birech-Mora this time. From the top of the hill, they can see the distant town of Rangamati.  \n”Ma, will we stay in this jhum field forever?”asks Parani.”We’ll be here for a few months,” her mother replies.“Once the rice ripens, we will harvest it and leave.
