In short,I have endeavored to make this, not an exercise inphilology, but a pleasing and sympathetic literarywork. For the“intensive”student, however,Ihave added a list of works(with dates)by meta-physical poets,a rather full bibliography, and ref-erences to the sources of al","cbCaii6Gjm6yAYmV","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaii6Gjm6yAYmV","pdf",9114353,317,"English","# PREFACE\n# INTRODUCTION\n## WHO WERE THE CAVALIER POETS?\n# CONTENTS\n## WHO WERE THE CAVALIER OR METAPHYSICAL POETS?\n## THE LEADERS; WHAT MANNER OF MEN?\n## CAVALIER SONGS","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the book as stated in the preface?\",\"answer\":\"The author aims to offer a pleasing, sympathetic literary study for both general readers and literature students, making the poets and their selections more intimately understood through appreciative notes rather than technical philology.\"},{\"question\":\"Which seventeenth-century poets are discussed in the contents?\",\"answer\":\"The contents list major figures associated with the Cavalier or Metaphysical traditions, including Robert Herrick, Francis Quarles, George Herbert, Thomas Carew, Edmund Waller, John Suckling, Richard Crashaw, Richard Lovelace, and Abraham Cowley, followed by sections of Cavalier songs and further poets.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the introduction suggest understanding the Cavalier Poets?\",\"answer\":\"It argues that no introduction, however detailed, can fully clarify the inner spirit, and that understanding depends on reading the poets’ writings and lives together to grasp their motives, audiences, and distinctive ways of writing.\"}]","The Cavalier Poets--317 | PDF",1789948033,488]
