the sixty years represented,few im-portant poets have been omitted.We hopethat the poems will be interesting enough to thestudents to lead them to further reading andlistening.For that reason,a comprehensivebibliography and a discography have been in-cluded.  \nThe arrangement of poets is alphabetical andthere is no division of British,American andCanadian poets.The earliest poets,Hardy andHousman,are included because they most cer-tainly speak in the tones(if not in the idiom)of this century.At the other end of the timescale,the editors notice with some surprise thatthey have
