It explains how to think about profession-related risk, specific threats, and personal history, while emphasizing that security cannot cover every scenario. The guidance focuses on generic measures to deter and delay hostile actions, reduce vulnerability, and improve response, including emergency directions such as calling 999.","The Blue Book: \nA Guide to \nPersonal Security \nNATIONAL \nCOUNTER TERRORISM SECURITY OFFICE \nThe Blue Book: A Guide to Personal Security \nContents \n5 Introduction \n6 Personal Security \n8 Threats and Risks \n10 Security at Home \n12 Routines \n13 Perimeter \n12 Gates \n12 Garages, outbuildings and sheds \n12 Doors, windows and locks \n12 Replacement door and window standards \n12 Key care \n12 Alarms \n12 Lighting \n12 CCTV \n12 Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) \n12 Subject Access Request (SAR) \n12 Visitors \n14 Waste disposal \n14 Neighbourhood watch \n14 Fire safety \n14 Security away from home \n15 Lone working \n16 Meetings and surgeries \n20 Travel \n20 Motor vehicles \n21 Vehicle security \n21 Regular journeys \n21 Public transport \n21 Taxis/public service vehicles (PSV) \n22 Rail, sea and air \n22 Buying vehicles \n22 Selling vehicles \n23 Working away from home (UK or Overseas) \n24 Hotels \n25 Physical Threats \n25 Firearms and weapons attack \n27 Hazardous substances \n27 Demonstrations \n28 Other Threats \n28 Unattended items \n28 Delivered items \n32 Bomb threats \n29 Telephone threats and anonymous calls \n30 Mobile devices \n32 IT security and online communications \n30 Online social networking (OSN) \n30 Children’s personal safety online \n30 Publicity and the media \n40 Leafleting campaigns \n41 Useful websites \n41 Useful contacts \n40 Disclaimer \n3 \nThe Blue Book: Guide to Personal Security \nThe Blue Book: A Guide to Personal Security \nIntroduction \nThe aim of this booklet is to provide a suite of advice options when implementing a personal security plan. \nThis booklet may form part of a wider personal security package delivered by an accredited Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA) or a Designing out Crime Officer (DOCO) and should be referred to when refreshing your own personal security. DOCOs may also be known regionally as Crime Prevention Officers (CPO), Crime Prevention Design Advisors (CPDAs) or Architectural Liaison Officers (ALOs) \ndepending on the local police force. \nIt is impossible to provide security for every eventuality; this guide provides generic advice to deter and to delay to give sufficient time to react and to mitigate risk \nThis booklet will also signpost you to other valuable sources of information and guidance. \nWhilst this guidance does provide some technical detail, it is advisable to seek the support of a security professional, or from the appropriately qualified body accredited to the British Standards Institute (BSI) (where required) to ensure the standards are up to date and suitable in order to mitigate risk. \nThis guide will provide advice on how to stay safe at home, at work, on-the move and online. \nIt is important to be mindful of the risks. These will be dependent on your personal circumstances and the type of environments you are likely to encounter. \nIn reading this guidance, you will need to consider your type of work and home life. \nConsider the following points: \nProfession: Does the role/position make you or your place of work an attractive target? \nSpecific threats: Is there information to suggest that you, your family or associates are at risk of serious harm? \nPersonal history: Have you, your family or associates been targeted in the past? \nThe Blue Book: A to Personal Security \nThe Blue Book: A Guide to Personal Security \nPersonal Security \nOur own security, and the safety of those close to us, is of great importance. The more you do to protect yourself, the better protected you and your family will be. \nWhilst we cannot predict or control everything that might happen to us, there are some steps we might choose to take to mitigate and avoid risk. \nThe recommendations contained within this guidance are based on research, historic events, expert advice and best practice, but it should also be recognised that these are primarily common sense precautions, albeit not exhaustive, and will depend on personal circumstances. \nI","cbCaihrkWy5YBx3e","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihrkWy5YBx3e","pdf",1306537,4,1,48,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n# Personal Security\n# Threats and Risks\n# Security at Home\n## Routines\n## Perimeter\n## Gates\n## Garages, outbuildings and sheds\n## Doors, windows and locks\n## Replacement door and window standards\n## Key care\n## Alarms\n## Lighting\n## CCTV\n## Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)\n## Subject Access Request (SAR)\n## Visitors\n# Security away from home\n## Lone working\n## Meetings and surgeries\n# Travel\n## Motor vehicles\n## Vehicle security\n## Regular journeys\n## Public transport\n## Hotels\n# Physical Threats\n## Firearms and weapons attack\n## Hazardous substances\n## Demonstrations\n# IT security and online communications","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the Blue Book guide?\",\"answer\":\"It provides a suite of advice options for implementing a personal security plan, including general measures to deter and delay risks and to help users react and mitigate harm.
