Gabriel also informs Mary about her relative Elizabeth, who, despite her old age, is also expecting a child. Mary visits Elizabeth, and as soon as they greet each other, Elizabeth's baby leaps in her womb. Mary praises God for his blessings. The story continues with Mary's betrothal to Joseph, who is troubled by her pregnancy but is reassured by an angel in a dream that the child is from the Holy Spirit and he should not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. Joseph obeys God and takes Mary home. The narrative then shifts to Joseph and Mary traveling to Bethlehem for a census. Mary's time to give birth arrives, and finding no room in the inn, they seek shelter in a stable. The story beautifully describes Jesus being born and laid in a manger, surrounded by shepherds who are tending their flocks.
