Paul arrives proud and self-focused, only to be awkwardly reassigned to a less honored seat, while Joel receives warm recognition. As Paul resents the change, Joel wonders why the invitation includes the poor and disabled. Paul and Joel had been friends since they were boys. They were inseparable. Wherever one was, the other one was always close by. People would shake their heads and wonder how the two could be such good friends because, they were so very di̜erent. Paul was proud and always talked about his things, his plans, himself. He thought he was better than everyone else he knew and so he expected others to help him but he was the last to help anyone else. Joel was exactly the opposite. He was quiet and humble. When he talked, he usually asked about other people's ideas and feelings, and was ready and willing to help others, no matter how lowly or dirty the work. \nOne day, Paul and Joel heard that their old classmate, Matt, was getting married. Matt's dad was the richest man in their city. He owned a ̎eet of minibuses, a restaurante, and one of the biggest supermarket in the city. His family always had the latest and best of everything. Matt was the only son and so his wedding was sure to be the biggest party of the year! Eventhough the three young men had been friends in school, they had parted ways after graduating. So, Paul and Joel were very surprised when they received an invitation to Matt's wedding. They spent the weeks leading up to the wedding talking about what kind of food would be served at the wedding feast and doing odd jobs so they could make enough money to buy new clothes to wear that day. \nWhen the day ̊nally came, both Paul and Joel were so excited that they woke up early and were ready well before the wedding. Paul had bought a ̎ashy, purple shirt that shimmered like shiny jewels and purple trousers to match. Of course, he had told everyone in town about his wonderful new out̊t and how great he would look at the wedding! Joel dressed in his new clothes, too, but had chosen a simple green shirt and black trousers. At the church, Paul insisted on sitting as far forward as they could so that everyone would see him in his new out̊t. After the ceremony, the celebration continued at the family restaurant. \nPaul quickly found an empty seat close to the bride and groom's table that looked like it had some of the best food and sat down. Joel waited quietly near the entrance until a restaurant employee showed him to a seat at one of the tables towards the back of the restaurant. Paul was just about to take a bite of a beautiful, delicious cupcake when Matt's father came up and greeted him awkwardly. After asking how Paul was and how he was enjoying the wedding celebration, he uncomfortably said, \"Um, I am so sorry but this seat is for Matt's uncle. Here, I will show you another place where you can sit. Paul had never been so morti̊ed in all his life. For once, he was struck speechless. He silently chewed on his cupcake as Matt's father led him to a table at the back, close to where Joel was sitting. \nAs Matt's father turned to walk back and welcome other arriving guests, he greeted the guests seated at the surrounding tables. When he came to Joel, he somehow remembered him from the boys' adventures when they were younger. \"Joel, isn't it? I'm so glad you could come!\" He said, shaking hands with him warmly. \"I am sure Matt wo","cbCaigAadQu5Mnwh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigAadQu5Mnwh","pdf",4628967,16,"English","en",105,"# Story Overview\n## Paul vs. Joel at the Wedding\n## The Invitation to Everyone\n## The Host’s Message","[{\"question\":\"Who are the main characters in The Best Party Ever!?\",\"answer\":\"The story follows two friends, Paul and Joel, who have been inseparable since they were boys, and Matt, whose wedding triggers the events.\"},{\"question\":\"What problem does Paul face when he arrives at the wedding celebration?\",\"answer\":\"Paul is initially given a seat, but Matt’s father later informs him that the place is reserved for Matt’s uncle and moves him to another table.\"},{\"question\":\"Why does Matt’s father invite poor and disabled people to the wedding party?\",\"answer\":\"He explains that God has been good and wants them to share that goodness with others, quoting the principle that it is more blessed to give than to receive.\"}]",1784312776,25,{"code":4,"msg":29,"data":30},"ok",{"site_id":23,"language":22,"slug":31,"title":13,"keywords":32,"description":14,"schema_data":33,"social_meta":85,"head_meta":87,"extra_data":89,"updated_unix":26},"the-best-party-ever-an-african-bible-story-based-on-luke-141-7-14","",{"@graph":34,"@context":84},[35,52,67],{"@type":36,"itemListElement":37},"BreadcrumbList",[38,42,46,49],{"item":39,"name":40,"@type":41,"position":11},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":43,"name":44,"@type":41,"position":45},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":47,"name":12,"@type":41,"position":48},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/story-novel/",3,{"item":50,"name":13,"@type":41,"position":51},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-best-party-ever-an-african-bible-story-based-on-luke-141-7-14/92202/",4,{"url":50,"name":13,"@type":53,"author":54,"headline":13,"publisher":56,"fileFormat":59,"inLanguage":22,"description":14,"dateModified":60,"datePublished":61,"encodingFormat":59,"isAccessibleForFree":62,"interactionStatistic":63},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":55},"Person",{"url":39,"name":57,"@type":58},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-22","2026-07-17",true,{"@type":64,"interactionType":65,"userInteractionCount":11},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":66},"ViewAction",{"@type":68,"mainEntity":69},"FAQPage",[70,76,80],{"name":71,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":73},"Who are the main characters in The Best Party Ever!?","Question",{"text":74,"@type":75},"The story follows two friends, Paul and Joel, who have been inseparable since they were boys, and Matt, whose wedding triggers the events.","Answer",{"name":77,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":78},"What problem does Paul face when he arrives at the wedding celebration?",{"text":79,"@type":75},"Paul is initially given a seat, but Matt’s father later informs him that the place is reserved for Matt’s uncle and moves him to another table.",{"name":81,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":82},"Why does Matt’s father invite poor and disabled people to the wedding party?",{"text":83,"@type":75},"He explains that God has been good and wants them to share that goodness with others, quoting the principle that it is more blessed to give than to receive.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":50,"og:type":86,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":57,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":88,"canonical":50},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":23},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":91},[92,95,99,103,108,113,118,123,128,131,135],{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":93,"slug":94},90,"story-novel",{"id":45,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":96,"show_sort_weight":97,"slug":98},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":51,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":100,"show_sort_weight":101,"slug":102},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":104,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":105,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":107},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":109,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":110,"show_sort_weight":111,"slug":112},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":114,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":115,"show_sort_weight":116,"slug":117},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":119,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":121,"slug":122},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":124,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":125,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},9,"Religion & Spirituality",20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":130},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":133,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":134},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":136,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":137,"show_sort_weight":104,"slug":138},19,"General","general"]
