Twenty more metres and he will be at the orchard. Kabimba had woken up feeling hungrier than usual. His mother had been ill,and the previous night they had nothing to eat. With no one to get him something to soothe his hungry  \nstomach,Kabimba had decided to go and steal apples from the nearby farm. This was not the first time he was stealing the apples.  \n[Neither was it the second. It was the third...no](Neither was it the second. It was the third...no),fourth... actually,it was the fifth time. He had forgotten what his mother had taught him. He had even decided to forget what he had been taught in sunday school.'God will understand,'he had kept on reassuring himself,but he knew very well that was not true. God does not condone theft.  \nKabimba continued running;he seemed to have acquired new energy. His motherswords kept ringing in his head,'Kabimba,if ever you steal,I'll cut off your hands!''Mother will not know,\" he said to himself. \"Nobody can stop me now,not even the hot sun,and certainly ,not the distance to the apple tree!\"  \nIt was as if the apples were calling out his name. He did not even notice his friend,Chimuka,who was taking a lazy afternoon walk.  \n\"Hey Kabimba,why are you in a hurry!Where are you going? Is everything alright?\"No,Chimuka. I'm paying an important visit to an important place,\"replied Kabimba,still running and panting heavily. 'Does that important place,by any chance,include the apple tree?\"asked Chimuka,jokingly.Kabimba had no idea that Chimuka knew about his dealings at the apple tree. \"Of course not,Chimuka. Which apple tree are you referring to? Is there a special apple tree somewhere?\" \"Where there is smoke there is fire!\" \"Well,I need to be on my way.I'm getting really,really late now. See you later my friend. \" \"Alright, have a safe to the apple tree!\" shouted Chimuka,as he vanished in the distance.  \nKabimba ran fast past Liboma's maize field,and into Muchindu's coffee,through the tea bushes and then into Reagan's wheat plantation. Then he found himself in Ronald's pineapple plantation and later in Mabvuto's orchard. And he knew he was close,very close.  \nHe took a sharp corner. Then he turned right-and there,standinng in front of him,was his precious apple tree. He hurriedly climbed the tree. In his heart he secretly hoped that he wouldn't be caught stealing the apples. One,two,three,four-he munched them all,hungrily and greedily. As he reached out for the last apple,he felt a sharp pain on his left arm.There was more pain on his leg and then on his face and neck! Soon his entire body was filled with sharp,needle like stings. When he couldn't hold the pain anymore,he let out a loud yell that must have been heard hundreds of kilometres away. Then,he fell off the tree and so did the hive! In the wink of an eye,a swarm of angry bees emerged from the hive like lightning,and landed on Kabimba. The pain was too much for him. He gathered his remaining strength and screamed again. He did not care whether he was caught or not.  \nLuckily some farmers,who heard Kabimba's screams,came and rescued him. They took him to a hospital nearby.
