If so, then other civil works architectural tools and ideas \n—such as qualitative reasoning and the relationships between client, architect and builder—should be found even more valuable in today’s more recent engineering fields. Five years later, at the time of the first edition of this book, judging from several hundred retrospective studies at the University of Southern California of dozens of post-World War II systems, the original premise has been validated. With another five years of perspective the observations only hold more strongly. Today’s systems architecting is indeed driven by, and serves, much the same purposes as civil architecture—to create and build systems too complex to be treated by engineering analysis alone. \nOf great importance for the future, the new fields have been creating architectural concepts and tools of their own and at an accelerating rate. This book includes a number of the more broadly applicable ones, among them heuristic tools, progressive design, intersecting wa","cbCaiiKVk22EC8nE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiiKVk22EC8nE","pdf",1775496,308,"English","# Dedications\n# Preface\n## The continuing development of systems architecting\n## Architecting in the systems world","[{\"question\":\"Why do the authors compare systems architecting with civil architecting?\",\"answer\":\"They argue that creating and building complex systems mirrors older civil architectural methods, including planning structures and using qualitative relationships, which become even more valuable in modern engineering contexts.\"},{\"question\":\"What kinds of systems does the book say architecting must handle today?\",\"answer\":\"It highlights systems with very high quality, real-time operation, closed-loop behavior, reconfigurability, interactivity, software intensity, and practical autonomy.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the preface identify as a major driver for the growth of systems architecting?\",\"answer\":\"It points to the mid-1980s period after the Cold War, when historical observation suggested that systems success or failure is often traceable to their beginnings, especially given today’s extraordinary complexity and technology.\"}]","The Art of Systems Architecting - Second Edition | PDF",1792967220,776]
