thousand yearsago are as pertinent and applicable to modern living as they were whenfrst uttered.Although the timelessness of Our Lord's teachings is entirelyexplainable by the fact that He is God,yet we,as human beings,ever andagain need must marvel at the pointed appropriateness and wisdom to be found inthese instructions when applied to the situations of tcday.  \nDivine wisdom is contained in these words of Our Lord:\"Every kingdom dividedagainst itself shall be made desolate:and every city or house divided against itselfshall not stand.\"(Matthew 12:25)Although spoken to the Pharisees,there has beenno period of time in which these words did not apply nor has there been a period oftime when the words were more significant than they are today.  \nllustrations of the need for cooperation and what it can achieve are many anddiverse,ranging from the combined effort required of all in a successful basket baligame to the concentrated,single motivated effort expended by a plant in the forma-tion of a flower.That results are achieved through a unity of purpose is recognizedand accepted.  \nThe faulty tendency for some is to stress united activity with failure to emphasizethe essential elements of understanding,appreciation,and intelligence which make thiseffort worthwhile.It is the contention of those for whom the study of man with all hiscomplexities is of importance that only those actions are of far reaching value andconsequence which result from a thus fortified spirit of cooperation.We point tothe frightening ruthlessness of lynchings,the gross corruption of ignorant votingprocedures as indicative of cooperative efforts lacking the ingredients fundamental totheir successful operation.  \nIn order that we may continue to
