Introduction\n\nWhat would animals say to us humans if theycould talk?In this little book the thoughts andobservations of a varied group of animals fromaround the world, some familiar, others lesswell-known,are imagined and,for fun, renderedas rhyming poems. \nThe 26 animals in the collection -one foreach letter of the alphabet -hang out in suchlocations as the Amazon rainforest,Africandeserts, the Arctic Ocean and the gardens ofEngland. They include the world's longestvenomous snake,a dinosaur that starred inHollywood films, and the smelliest creatureof them all.The unfortunate saga related in thepoem,'One-Eyed Bleeder’,actually happened. \nIn speaking out,the animals reveal \nthemselves variously as opinionated, proud, humble, humorous, sad, philosophical, evenreligious. All have something interesting tosay. \nAnteater \n# Dude With Attitude\n\nAs my name implies I feed on ants, those pesky things that get in your pants.I have a long nose and poke it in placeswhere it's not welcome,in almost all cases. Some may consider my methods are crude, but it's the way I'm equipped to get my food.I tear open ant hills with my sharp clawsthen, with reflexes much quicker than yours,I scoop up the ants with my sticky tongue, which, believe it or not,is two feet long.I need to eat thousands of ants a dayIn order to keep my hunger at bay. \nI swallow them fast so I don't get stung, using lots of saliva and flicks of my tongue. Some may not find me an attractive dude, but let me assure you I have attitude.I'm seven feet long and an alpha malewith a great fur coat and a bushy tail. Most of all I am proud of my snout, something I would hate to be without. \n# Bat\n\nHanging Around \nI spend much of my time hanging aroundupside down high above the ground. It's something bats have always done, but I am no longer finding it fun \nI live in the belfry of an ancient churchwhere I have been engaged on a searchfor a new purpose in life now that I'vebecome the most God-fearing bat alive.I am tired of simply hanging about;it's just not right for a bat who's devout.I'm planning to go out and spread the wordand convince bats hanging is just absurd. \n# Crocodile\n\nLeave Us Alone \nDon't be misled by our ready smileslife is no joke for us crocodiles.People constantly spoil our fun, hunting us down with net and gun. \nIt's distressing when your next of kinis taken away and stripped of his skinto make into belts and fancy shoesor shipped off to be displayed in zoos. \nWhen folk keep
