PREFACE\n\nGod's call to prayer is so inviting that a Chris-tian cannot but pray.God's promises are so sure that weshould never doubt His answer to prayer.Teen-Agers Prayis intended to help young people express their faith inprayer.  \nWe can do God no greater honor than to ask for hardthings and to trust that He will hear us.Doubt about God'sability or willingness to help us shows a lack of faich.It isreally a dishonor to our almighty and loving God.Faith istrust and confidence.By trusting in God we honor Him.  \nGod's promise to hear our prayers does not mean,ofcourse,that God will give us anything we ask.At timesHe may have to deny our requests for our good.God lovesus.He knows what is good for us.We do not always knowwhat is good for us,and so we ask for things which we donot need or which would be harmful to us.For example:If we asked God for riches,He might know that richeswould weaken or destroy our faith.Should God still giveus riches?Out of love for us He will deny our request forriches.There are other things which are good in themselves,but which might not be good for us.In refusing to givethem to us,God really hears our prayer to do what is bestfor us.  \nWhen we are praying for stronger faith and a Christianlife,we know that we are praying that God's will may bedone.We know God will hear our prayer.When we pray  \nfor an earthly blessing,we say:\"Give it to me,Lord,if itis good for me.If You have to deny my request,I will loveYou just the same.”By such prayer we lay the matter en-tirely into God's hands.We surrender completely to Him,knowing that all is well when He rules our lives.We prayproperly when we ask what God wants,not what we wantGod always hears such prayer,and it brings us greaterblessings than all the riches of the world could bring.  \nIt is not always easy to surrender so completely to God,but it becomes easier as we practice it.It brings us peaceand joy to pray that way.As long as we keep trusting inGod,praying and surrendering ourselves to Him,we willhave a successful life on earth,and eternal life,too.We areable to do this as long as we know and believe God's Word.  \nThe prayers in this book take surrender to God forgranted.A Christian would not want it any other way.It is hoped that the book will stimulate the prayer life ofthe young people who use it.  \nThe prayers cover the problems and concerns of teen-agers.They were written by people who understand theneeds of young people,and some were written by teen-agers.All prayers were read by teen-agers,and many ofthe prayers were read aloud to them.Many helpful sugges-tions were received in this way.Also the title of the bookwas selected by a group of young people with whom theprayers were discussed.  \nTwenty-eight people participated in
