technology is reflected in the way Minnesota state government serves the public. Taking advantage of continuously changing technology, state government is increasing its use of technology to offer citizens a host of services. These services may include corresponding online with elected officials, providing information about government services, renewing licenses, providing tax information and filing returns, and applying for jobs or benefits.\nLikewise, state government employees increasingly depend on information technology to support state government services. Employees use technology to manage email, documents, and schedules. Software applications may be used by all employees (e.g., the HR/payroll system), a significant number of employees (e.g., the procurement/accounting application), or may be agency or role specific (e.g., a case management application).\nAs government is constantly being asked to do more with less, information technology is playing a vital role in allowing government to better serve all of its citizens. Promoting the accessibility and usability of state government systems is critical to all citizens and employees.\nIn 2009, the Minnesota legislature passed, and the governor signed into law a statute and funding to advance the accessibility of State of Minnesota information technology systems used by both citizens and employees (\u0013HYPERLINK \"https://www.revisor.mn.gov/laws/?id=131&doctype=C","cbCaiku9Ov0GOJaX","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiku9Ov0GOJaX","doc",93696,11,"English","# Background\n## Plan Objectives\n## Short Term Objectives\n## Long Term Objectives\n## Skills/Competencies by Role\n## Accessibility Training Resources","[{\"question\":\"What problem does the plan address for the Agency of All Good Things?\",\"answer\":\"The plan addresses the need to fully implement accessibility and usability in state government systems by building awareness, skills, and process changes across management and staff.\"},{\"question\":\"Which policy milestones drive the training plan’s requirements?\",\"answer\":\"It is driven by Minnesota’s 2009 accessibility statute and by the September 1, 2010 adoption of Accessibility Standards within the Office of Enterprise Technology’s enterprise technical architecture.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the main plan objectives?\",\"answer\":\"The plan identifies role-based training needs, defines accessibility skills and competencies per role, selects relevant curricula for multiple training formats, and applies accessibility standards, adult learning theory, and universal design where feasible.\"}]","Technology Accessibility Training Plan - Background | DOC",1788346986,28]
