and Media-Tribalism,by referring to two subculturalscenes,Japanimation (Japanese animatedcinema)and Rave culture (especiallyPsychedelic Trance Techno).  \nJust as the discourse of Orientalism hasfunctioned to build up the identity of the West,techno-orientalism is set up for the West topreserve its identity in its imagination of thefuture.It can be defined as the Orientalism ofcybersociety and the information age,aimed atmaintaining stable identity in a technologicalenvironment.  \nGlobalisation and tribalisation seem to becompletely mutually dependent.Media-tribalism can be defined conceptually asparallel process or a reverse side of globali-sation.Once McLuhan predicted that the worldwould become a global village where peoplecould live as members of a tribe despitegeographical distance.But his prediction hit ononly half of the reality.Certainly,globalisationbrought about tribalisation,but there is nosingle,common tribe,but many tribes with alltheir potential conflicts.Globalisation includes,and is constituted by,a mosaic patchwork ofdifferent kinds of tribes.Generally,tribalism isdepicted negatively,for example,with  \n# Techno-Orientalism\n\nand Media-Tribalism  \n# On Japanese Animation and Rave Culture\n\nToshiya Ueno  \nreference to the ethnic war in ex-Yugoslavia orthe tribal war in Rwanda:tribalism is equatedwith Balkanisation or Lebanonisation.Butthese impressions are wrongly combined witha geopolitical imagination in an ideologicalprojection of the cultural into the geographicalsphere.This kind of projection should
