Shocking isn't it but it's a game changer for sure and one that is leveling the playing field for many.  \nWith smart phones as cheap as $4, almost anyone can own a cell phone. Slowly but surely the paperless momentum is growing. We still have a way to go but it won't be long before we realize we have no choice but to live more sustainbly.  \nTechnology is making great strides in classrooms with free programs like WhatsApp. With WhatsApp you digitally distribute and track homework assignments. It has a group chat feature that's perfect for making staff and student announcements.  \nEven Harvard courses are available for free online. The Bloom Library offers free book downloads in multiple languages and has book creation capabilities.  \nImagine the possibilities. Today you can purchase a cell phone that comes with a built in projector or you can turn your existing cell into a projector with ashoebox and a magnifying glass!  \nSo, how can we streamline the printing process for schools with tight budgets or no budgets at all?  \nWith equipment prices dropping, it won't be long before schools will be able to provide students with tablets and thumb drives. Teachers will be able to afford devices like the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro, a $500 tablet that comes with a built in projector. The price for a projector ranges from $2000 on up. Imagine being able to purchase 4 tablet/projectors for the cost of one projector. Even schools with tight budgets will be able to make due with a $29 mini projector that connects directly to your cell phone.  \nNot all schools provide internet access but guess what? Most cell phones do.  \nCell phones are becoming great problem solvers for rural librarians and school teachers. However, there will be times when a teacher will need to print final exams, report cards, diplomas, etc.  \nSome day most school work will be managed electronically. Until then, the following innovations can help budget conscious schools and parents save money and ultimately help save the planet.  \nInk/Toner Tips.  \nUse Garamond font (uses less ink) . Don't use bold, print in draft mode, print double sided and preview document before printing.  \nSave money by making your own black inkjet ink by adding 8 oz of honey, 1 egg yolk to a jar, seal, shake.  \nNow add 1/4 oz of gum arabic (tree sap) and shake. Next, make some soot. Get a saucer, hold the curved side facing a lite candle. Before long black soot will appear. Add a small amount of the honey to loosen the soot and pour into the jar of honey/egg yolk, seal and shake.  \nNow add a tiny amount of water, seal and shake. Once you have the right consistancy, sieve this solution in order to strain any thick particles. Remove the ink cartridge from the printer, remove the label and look for a tiny hole.
