The N2 version is pin and application compatible with the N1 version, however, a new feature has been added which makes the N2 more attractive. The IF PLL demodulator has been replaced by an alignment-free IF PLL demodulator with internal VCO (no tuned circuit required) . The setting of the various frequencies (33 .4, 33.9, 38, 38.9, 45,75 and 58.75 MHz) can be made via the I2C-bus. \nBecause of this difference the N2 version is compatible with the N1, however, N1 devices cannot be used in an optimised N2 application. \nFunctionally the IC series is split up is 3 categories, viz: \n• Versions intended to be used in economy TV receivers with all basic functions (envelope: S-DIP 56 and QFP 64) \n• Versions with additional features like E-W geometry control, H-V zoom function and YUV interface which are intended for TV receivers with 110° picture tubes (envelope: S-DIP 56) \n• Versions which have in addition a second RGB input with saturation control and a second CVBS output (envelope: QFP 64) \nThe various type numbers are given in the table below. \nSURVEY OF IC TYPES \n\n| ENVELOPE | S-DIP 56 | | QFP 64 | |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| TV receiver category | Economy | Mid/High end | Economy | Mid/High end |\n| PAL only | TDA 8840 | | TDA 8840H | |\n| PAL/NTSC | TDA 8841 | TDA 8843 | TDA 8841H | |\n| PAL/SECAM/NTSC | TDA 8842 | TDA 8844 | TDA 8842H | TDA 8854H |\n| NTSC only | TDA 8846/46A | TDA 8847 | | TDA 8857H |\n\nDecember 16, 1997 2 \nI2C-bus controlled PAL/NTSC/SECAM TV processors \nTDA884X/5X-N2 series \nFUNCTIONAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE VARIOUS IC VERSIONS \n\n| IC VERSION (TDA) | 8840 | 8841 | 8842 | 8846 | 8846A | 8843 | 8844 | 8847 | 8854H | 8857H |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Automatic Volume Limiting | X | X | X | X | X | | | | | |\n| PAL decoder | X | X | X | | | X | X | | X | |\n| SECAM decoder | | | X | | | | X | | X | |\n| NTSC decoder | | X | X | X | X | X | X | X | X | X |\n| Colour matrix PAL/NTSC(Japan) | | X | X | | | X | X | | X | |\n| Colour matrix NTSC Japan/USA | | | | X | X | | | X | | X |\n| YUV interface | | | | X | X | X | X | X | X | X |\n| Base-band delay line for PAL and SEC","cbCaihxawICi4g50","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihxawICi4g50","pdf",315398,68,"English","# Features\n# General Description\n# Survey of IC Types\n## TV receiver category and PAL/NTSC/SECAM variants\n# Functional Differences Between IC Versions\n# Quick Reference Data","[{\"question\":\"What communication control interface is used to configure the TDA884X/5X-N2 series TV processors?\",\"answer\":\"The series is I2C-bus controlled, allowing frequency settings and various function control via the I2C-bus.\"},{\"question\":\"What makes the N2 version different from the N1 version?\",\"answer\":\"The N2 version replaces the IF PLL demodulator with an alignment-free IF PLL demodulator with an internal VCO, enabling configurable frequencies via the I2C-bus.\"},{\"question\":\"How do the different TDA884X/5X versions differ functionally?\",\"answer\":\"They are split into categories such as economy receivers with basic functions, versions with additional geometry/zoom/YUV features for 110° picture tubes, and versions with an extra RGB input and additional CVBS output; the exact differences are listed in the functional differences table.\"}]","TDA884X/5X-N2 series - Device Specification - Integrated Circuits - I2C-bus controlled PAL/NTSC/SECAM TV processors | PDF",1791805154,171]
