They build peaceful, idyllic communities, hunting what and where they wish. Roamers at heart, centaurs love open spaces and the freedom to travel. As much as they can, centaurs run. They race the wind, hooves thundering and tails streaming behind them. \nCentaurs inhabit the plains and forests in tribes of varying size. Even though they build permanent shelters and live in one place for many years at a time, centaurs roam \nfrom their homes on a regular basis, ranging over great distances in relatively short amounts of time. Centaurs regard such \nexcursions as essential to understanding the world around their homes, and they greatly \nenjoy such activity for its own sake. Although their crafts have not reached the level of some of the humanoid races, it is only because centaurs prefer to venture from their homes often rather than to stay in one place and ply a single trade. \nThe following traits are shared by tauric player characters. \nAbility Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2. \nAge. Tauric creatures mature and age at about the same rate as humans, except for driders, who age similarly to drow and other elves. \nAlignment. Centaurs and Wemics and inclined toward neutrality, while driders and tlincalli towards evil. \nSize. Centaurs stand between 6 and 7 feet tall, with their equine bodies reaching about 4 feet at the withers. Drow and tlincalli stand roughly a foot shorter. Your size is Medium. \nSpeed. Your base walking speed is 40 feet. \nEquine Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push or drag. \nIn addition, any climb that requires hands and feet is especially difficult for you because of your hooves. When you make such a climb, each foot of movement costsyou 4 extra feet, instead of the normal 1 extra foot. \nA Medium or smaller creature can ride on your equine back if you allow it. In such a situation, you continue to act independently, not as a controlled mount. \nFinally, you are considered to be mounted while wielding alance. \nFey. Your creature type is fey, rather than humanoid. \nSurvivor. You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Medicine, Nature, or Survival. \nLanguages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan. \nSubrace. A few variants of tauric creatures have appeared throughout the Worlds of D&D. Choose one of these subraces. \n. \nThese nomadic beings are sociable creatures who live in family gruops organized into larger tribes. \nAbility Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1. \nCentaur Weapon Training. You are proficient with the javelin, spear, shortbow and lance. \nCharge. If you move at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hit it with a melee or thrown weapon attack on the same turn, roll the weapon’s damage dice twice and add them together. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. \nHooves. Your hooves are natural weapons with which you can make unarmed strikes. If you hit with a hoof, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier. \n. \nWhen a drow shows great promise, Lolth summons it to the Demonweb Pits for a test of faith and strength. Those that pass the test rise higher in the Spider Queen's favor. Those that fail are transformed into driders-a horrid hybrid of adrow and a giant spider that serves as a living reminder of Lolth's power. \nAbility Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1. \nDrow Weapon Training. You have proficiency with rapiers, shortswords, and hand crossbows. \nSpider Climb. You have a climbing speed of 20 feet, and climbing does not cost you the 4 feet of extra movement imposed by your Equine Build trait. \nWeb Walker.
