It argues that traditional negativity, judgment, and oppositional tactics have exhausted their capacity to generate transformation. Instead, it emphasizes recognizing complicity and entanglement, including how knowledge and assessment are always situated, perspectival, and implicated within technological, biomedical, and ecological transitions. Perhaps it is time to look at the nature of our own understanding of what you just called “productive resistance” and to assess how – in our very “resistance” – we may have been working in complicity with what we set out to criticize. \n– Trinh T. Minh-ha, D-Passage, 122 \nIn 2015, the Los Angeles Review of Books launched a series entitled“No Crisis” to examine the state of critique in the humanities understood as both a university institution and a theoretical field. In view of what was at the same time acknowledged and refuted as a crisis of the humanities, the series wanted to show how criticism is “actually written in the present,” a decade and a half into the 21st century. In her contribution, Johanna Drucker notes that an important move for contemporary criticism would be to leave behind the principle of “‘critique’ and negation, a stance of moral superiority and outsider position”(Drucker 2015) . Instead of maintaining negation, opposition (and judgment, we might add) as the traditional attributes of critique, a crucial step would be to recognize the complicity of oneself, of one’s criticism, of any critical practice, with in the conditions or phenomena that \n8 are under critical consideration. These are not exactly Drucker’swords. The way she puts it is: \nOppositional tactics are always reactive. We have to realize that negative notions, like the bankrupt ideas of critique, don’t offer a way forward. They keep us at a superior distance from reality. We need to formulate a modernism of engagement founded in a recognition of complicity – oursand its – with the machinations and values according to which we live. (Drucker 2015)1 \nThe project of this vocabulary starts from a similar hunch: namely that negativity and judgment, the modes in which critique and critical analyses were practiced ","cbCaifBdiW1BI3YA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifBdiW1BI3YA","pdf",13159722,275,"English","# Introduction: Symptoms of the Planetary Condition\n## Affect\n## Affirmation\n## Capital\n## Creation\n## Entanglement\n## Experience\n## Fable\n## Immanence\n## The Inhuman\n## Inner Voice\n## Metaphor\n## Parrhesia\n## Perspective\n## Plastic/ity\n## Play\n## Power\n## Process\n## Regard\n## Responsibility\n## Risk\n## Semi Agency\n## Sensibility\n## Singularization\n## Skin\n## Specters\n## Speculation\n## Stutter\n## Symptomatology\n## Technology\n## Temporality\n## Terra\n## Terror\n## Transformation\n## Translation\n## Utopia\n## Vision\n## Work\n## World\n# Diagrams: Visualizing Connections\n# About Terra Critica\n# Authors","[{\"question\":\"What central idea does the introduction emphasize about contemporary critique?\",\"answer\":\"It emphasizes that negativity and judgment—oppositional tactics rooted in critique—have run their course and no longer provide a way forward.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the book explain “complicity” and why it matters?\",\"answer\":\"It argues that any critical practice is entangled with the conditions and values it seeks to criticize, so critique must acknowledge its own complicity.\"},{\"question\":\"What role do entanglement and perspective play in the planetary condition?\",\"answer\":\"Entanglement at a fundamental level prevents neat subject/object and knower/known distinctions, making knowledge always situated, perspectival, and implicated.\"}]","Symptoms of the Planetary Condition - A Critical Vocabulary | PDF",1790585432,424]
