We review syllabuses on a regular basis so that the content is up to date, the assessment is appropriate, and our syllabuses remain highly regarded by universities and employers. \nTo help teachers plan ahead, we provide advance notice of changes to syllabuses at least one year before first teaching. We publish this guide twice a year and it includes details about the following types of changes. \nSet texts and set works \nThe words SET TEXTS next to a syllabus title indicate that the set texts in a syllabus have been updated. Set texts regularly change in syllabuses and many change from one year of examination to the next. Before you begin teaching, check the set text list in the syllabus for the year in which your candidates will take their examinations. This also applies to set works where the words SET WORKS indicate that the set works ina syllabus have been updated. You should fully check the updated syllabus, as there may be other changes in addition to the set texts or set works update. \nNew and revised syllabuses \nThese include new subjects being offered for the first time, as well as existing syllabuses that have been significantly revised. This can include updated content, assessment models, set texts or set works, syllabus codes, or titles. \nWithdrawn syllabuses \nThese are syllabuses that have been withdrawn and will no longer be available. Information will include the year of the last assessment of that qualification. The relevant syllabus page on our website will indicate if there is an alternative syllabus available, for example if a syllabus is being replaced by one with a new code. \nRepublished syllabuses \nThese are versions of syllabuses that have been republished for further years of assessment. When a syllabus is republished for further years of assessment, it may have updated set texts or set works or there may be minor updates to information in the syllabus. \nSyllabuses updated after publication \nThese are updated versions of published syllabuses that have been amended with minor changes outside of our review process. The version number for the syllabus will have been updated as part of the amendment. \nAvailability \nThis section includes information about the availability for syllabuses, including series and administrative zone availability, as well as information about changes to availability. \nOther useful information \nSyllabuses with changes other than those listed above that schools should be aware of are grouped under this heading.
