They acknowledged the focus of the CPF on addressing demand-side barriers to employment, mobilizing private sector investments, investing in human capital, strengthening climate resilience and enhancing community preparedness. They emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions to ensure good governance to better manage revenues, and strategically managing Suriname’s abundant natural resources, including new oil discoveries, for inclusive and sustainable growth.  \nDirectors recognized the pivotal role of the private sector as well as the need for strategic public investments and reforms to promote competitiveness. Directors called for closer collaboration between the Bank, IFC, and MIGA. They supported the CPF’s approach to private sector engagement which prioritizes short term opportunities in the financial sector, and called for opportunities in agribusiness, services and education. They also welcomed the World Bank Group’s commitment to supporting Suriname’s energy transition and access to carbon markets asthe country seeks to maintain its standing forests and preserving its biodiversity.  \nDirectors called for leveraging the Bank’s Global Challenge Programs and knowledge agenda in supporting Suriname’s development. They also supported additional attention be given to gender issues, migration and data production.
