Principal Awards are earned by students who achieve an average Work Habit Rating of 3.90 or above. Students who achieve an average Work Habit Rating of 4.00 receive an Elite Principal Award. There were many students in each year level who achieved both categories of award and they should be very pleased with the application they have applied to their studies. Achieving high Work Habit Ratings, both in periods of on-site and remote learning, demonstrates great resilience and determination. Each student across the school, who improved their work habits this term, should be proud of their efforts. \nStudents accepted their awards on Tuesday 24 June in front of their peers and teachers. The Principal Awards are usually conducted in front of families, but the current density limit restrictions prevented parents from attending on-site. We look forward to both the Sunbury College Awards night and Year 12 Graduation later in the year when we can invite parents and carers to join us as we continue to celebrate our students’ success. \nCraig O’Bree \nActing Principal \nAssistant Principals’ Message \nJared Dyson, Fiona Scott-Young & Siobhan Shaw \nIt has been a busy and very productive term. Our students have participated in a wide range of activities and programs throughout the term. We were fortunate to run our Athletics Carnival, NAPLAN for years 7 and 9, Attitudes to School Survey, various inter-school sports, Morrisby sessions for year 9, Careers Expo for senior students, the leadership camp and other extra- curricular activities. Our students have demonstrated outstanding participation in these activities and adhered to our school values of respect, resilience, responsibility and endeavour. \nWe would like to thank all of our students for their ability to adapt from onsite to the remote learning environment at the end of this term. This has been a wonderful reminder of their resilience and we were pleased with their progress and commitment they made to learning during this time. We would also like to thank our parents and carers for the ongoing support that you provided to your child/children and trust in our school and its operations through this period. We are very excited to have all students back in the classroom for the final weeks of the term. \nThank you to all of our staff during this term, who have demonstrated their commitment to student learning and wellbeing. They have been adaptable, creative and collaborative, as they have worked together to make the transition to remote learning and return to school as smooth as possible for our students. \nIncreased health and hygiene measures \nA number of very important health and hygiene practices continue to be implemented in the school. Hand sanitiseris available in every classroom and around the grounds for students to access. Our COVID safe actions also reinforce staying at home if students are unwell and getting tested, wearing a mask and physical distancing when possible. \nSemester 1 Reports \nAs the term draws to a close our semesterly reports are made available to students, parents, and carers. Semester reports bring an opportunity to reflect on progress and set goals for future improvement. Whether it’s a feeling of celebration or that you’re not quite there yet, everyone can set a goal for improvement. Parents, carers, teachers, house leaders and mentors (the list goes on) are great supports that can help frame a goal for improvement to tackle for semester two.
