With the help of the bridge loan provided by the United States, the DPF will help facilitate Sudan’s reengagement with IDA, and provide US$215 million in budget support grants to address urgent fiscal needs.  \nDirectors commended Sudan’s important internal peace agreement and the recent difficult reforms to correct macroeconomic imbalances, improve governance and transparency, and provide a foundation for future growth and prosperity. Directors particularly noted progress on exchange rate liberalization, fuel subsidy reform, and rollout of the Sudan Family Support Program, all of which are highlighted as prior actions in the DPF. Directors also welcomed the good progress in the preparation of a poverty reduction strategy through a consultative process.  \nRecognizing that Sudan continues to face enormous economic, political, and social challenges, Directors stressed the importance of continued commitment by the Government to the pursuit of reforms and policies supported by the IMF staff-monitored program (SMP) and the DPF. They emphasized that complementary measures to promote private sector development will be critical and will increase the chances for successful stabilization in 2021, the subsequent revival of the economy, and sustained poverty reduction.
